This is a shopping mall in the sub-district of Sungai Petani. It is one of the oldest and longest-serving malls there. For more than twenty years, the Petani Parade has served the people of Sungai Petani with its biggest anchor, Parkson. It is also said that the Parkson in Petani Parade is one of the oldest Parkson stores in the whole country. The Petani Parade is located six kilometres to the south of Sungai Petani town. It opens every day from 10 am and closes at 10 pm. The Petani Parade offers free parking to everyone on weekends, which is Friday and Saturday.
Driving to Petani Parade from the capital city of Kedah, Alor Setar will take about fifty minutes via the North-South Highway for a sixty-eight kilometres trip. If driving from Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, the distance is about 370 kilometres and it will take almost four hours of driving via the North-South Highway. The trip, however, can get a lot longer especially during the holidays as the traffic will be congested.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) provides an Electric Train Service (ETS) from several destinations to Sungai Petani. If from KL Sentral, the ticket fare to go to Sungai Petani is either RM 62 for a Gold Class, or RM 82 for a platinum class. It is estimated to take about four hours and ten minutes to reach Sungai Petani from KL Sentral, depending on the training class; the Gold class has more stops compare to Platinum. This service is also available from Ipoh, Taiping, and Batu Gajah.
Several coach companies have daily trips to Sungai Petani from the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan in Kuala Lumpur. The ticket starts from RM 38 up to RM 45, depending on the company. There are also several time slots available from the earliest departing from KL at 7.30 am to the last one at 11.59 pm. On average, the time taken for one coach to complete this trip is five hours and forty minutes.
This is the only beach in mainland Kedah. Though it is located quite far from Sungai Petani, some thirty minutes away, this beach is still one of the major attractions for people of Sungai Petani, Kedah and even Penang. One of the tallest and am an important mountain in the Peninsular of Malaysia. Standing tall at 1,217 meters, this mountain is a navigational point for ships that are entering the Straits of Melaka from the north as it is visible from far. Gunung Jerai is also one of the destinations for hikers, be it the amateurs or the professional. There are an 18 kilometres winding trekking route starting at the foot of the mountain and up to the peak. There, on top of the mountain, there are beautiful, cool waterfalls, and also a resort.
