Pulau Payar Marine Park is a popular site for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts keen on exploring Langkawi’s undersea action. This well-preserved, uninhabited marine park extends over four islands, Pulau Kaca, Pulau Lembu and Pulau Segantang with Pulau Payar being the largest. This marine park is spread over two nautical miles. Your base out here is the floating platform moored off Pulau Payar. But the real attraction of this platform lies below sea level. Step into the underwater observation chamber to view the marine life surrounding a reef. Want to get even closer to the swirl of fishes that make these corals their home? Grab a mask, a snorkel and fins and join the spectacle! If you’re into scuba diving, the best diving is along the reef system that skirts the south, east and west of Pulau Payar. Please check with your dive operator what the visibility is while you’re there, as conditions vary.  One of Pulau Payar Marine Park’s best features is its Coral Garden, a secluded section of the park with colourful coral beautifully protected and preserved due to its sheltered waters.

Those eager to explore the park will have to obtain permission from the authorities, and fishing is strictly prohibited in this area. The park caters well to tourists with an extensive array of facilities ranging from picnic tables, barbecue pits, gazebos and restroom set at strategic points throughout the park. How To Get There

Island hopping tour is one of the most popular activities organized by the local agent. In Langkawi, travel agents can do arrangement for the island tour. Basically there are plenty of travel agents available in Langkawi. The cheapest price for a day tour to Pulau Payar Marine Park for one pax is around RM 170 (all in). The tour usually starts at 10.00 am and the speedboat or catamaran will depart from Kuah Jetty Point. Some agents do offer complimentary pickup from hotel to the jetty, especially for guests staying in Kuah area. Meals are included in the package. From the jetty (which is located at Kuah), it takes about 45 to 60 minutes to reach Pulau Payar Marine Park by speedboat or a catamaran. There will be a small jetty for drop-off.

You can find a lot of different kinds of fishes including Nemo and black tail baby sharks. You are allowed to feed the fish at the marine park. There is a area at the marine park where you can find hundreds of cat and small fishes. You can put your feet into the pool and enjoy the natural fish spa. Besides, swimming is also allowed in the marine park or you can just lay on the wooden platform, enjoy a sun bath under the wonderful view. The beach site is relatively small and often crowded with tourist during weekend.
