Rompin District is a district located in the southeastern corner of Pahang, Malaysia and covers an area of 5,296 kilometres. It is around 130 kilometres from Kuantan which is the capital city of Pahang and the main town is Kuala Rompin and another town located in the district is Bandar Muadzam Shah. The main tourist attractions in Rompin is the beautiful Tioman Island and national parks. This district also consists of Rompin Hospital which acts as general government hospital to help patients around Rompin area.

How to Get There

By Car

From Kuala Lumpur city centre, it takes around 3 hours and 50 minutes to reach Rompin Hospital by using the Bahau-Keratong road. There is another road option which is by using North-South highway which takes another an hour. From Johor Bahru, the time consumed to arrive at the hospital is around 4 hours via North-South highway.

Tourist Attractions

Endau Rompin National Park

Endau-Rompin is one of the oldest national parks in the southeastern part of Peninsular Malaysia besides Taman Negara and Royal Belum State Park. The name comes from the two rivers that run through the park which are the Endau River and the Rompin River. There are mainly two attractions here to visit the national park which is to see wonderful waterfalls and to visit the Orang Asli tribes. Dated back 240 million years ago, this park also consists of flora and fauna, including the Sumatran Rhino and waterfalls namely Buaya Sangkut, Upeh Guling and Batu Hampar. Visitors are advised to wear appropriate clothing for the jungle such as loose-fitting cotton long-sleeved shirts and long pants to help keep insects at bay and wear comfortable boots or sneakers. In addition, a first aid kit, torchlight and insect repellent are also helpful throughout the journey. Visitors are also requested to help the Department of Wildlife preserve nature' beauty by keeping litter and noise pollution to the minimum.

Tioman Island

Tioman Island is located about 56 kilometres off the coast in the federal state of Pahang and becomes one of the popular island destinations in Malaysia among local and international tourists. The island is widely known for its wonderful diving and snorkelling activities. Visitors can get your open water license (PADI) for around RM1000 but at least 5 days on the island is required. There are numerous dive schools such as DiveAsia (5 Star IDC), B&J Dive Center, Tioman Dive Centre and Fisherman Divers. Besides that, Tioman is a duty-free island and the items are much cheaper compared to prices on the mainland especially souvenirs and alcohol. Other than that, this island is famous for deep-sea fishing trips and light jungle treks. Among the two popular treks are from Tekek to Juara and from Tekek all the way to Monkey Bay. The beaches like Genting Beach, Tekek Beach and Salang Beach are fitted with many aquatic sports operators such as kayaking and surfing.
