How to Get There

From Kuala Lumpur, it will take around 45 minutes to reach Penang Airport. From there, Penang's Rapid Transit bus system is available and very efficient or you might have to go to the central transport hub, Komtar in Georgetown. Taxis are available here and you can also rent a car from the airport.

Penang Batik Factory

Penang Batik Factory is one of the largest handmade batik producers in the country and was founded in 1973. The centre sells a wide range from garments to accessories and well known sightseeing spots and offers a wide variety of quality batik, from block prints batiks to hand-drawn pieces. At the Penang Batik Factory, each piece features patterns and colours on both sides of the fabric. They have from batik-print men's dress shirts to sarongs and scarves. There is also a workshop where you can see artists drawing, colouring and stamping batik patterns on fabrics. This complex provides guided daily tour for visitors.

Batu Ferringhi Night Market

Batu Ferringhi Night Market can be seen in the evening where the stalls are being set up and this night market has a wide range of goods to offer and reasonable price, from fake designer bags and pirated DVDs to handmade local jewelry and crafts to souvenirs and cultural artwork. Batu Ferringhi night market opens at 7.00pm until the wee hours.The lightened and exciting atmosphere at this market attracts many visitors, tourists and locals.

Penang Butterfly Farm

The Penang Butterfly Farm is situated between the Taman Rimba Park and Teluk Bahang village and was opened at 1986. This approximately 8 hectares butterfly farm houses wide variety of 4000 various species of butterflies along with reptiles and other insects. Yellow wing butterfly and Rajah Brooke are among the many species of butterflies. It features more than 4,000 butterflies from more than 120 groups as well as other insects and reptiles.
