Sri Hartamas or literally translated as the Golden Estates is an affluent residential area and township within the constituency of Segambut, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is located closely to another similar high-end township, Mont Kiara and situated strategically between four expressways of NKVE, PLUS, SPRINT and DUKE expressways that link the area with the downtown Kuala Lumpur as well as its surrounding suburban areas. This has resulted to Sri Hartamas having a surprisingly short travel time to places in Klang Valley area even if there is a rush hour going on. The area can be slightly isolated in comparison to other places, hence it has been primed as a prey to organized crimes. Nonetheless this has been reduced over the years with the increasing participation of the residents in the resident’s association, which has ordered a private security firm to patrol the area.
The typical homes in Sri Hartamas would largely consists of low rise condominium mixed with shopping centre blocks, townhouses, adjoining semi-detached homes and small town bungalows. Considering the development of the town has been going on since the 1980s, the streets are strangely wider, compared to other areas. In the 1990s, the economic boom has boosted the image of Sri Hartamas, especially with the demand for quality housing that has been the defining feature of the area. Sri Hartamas gained popularity within Malaysian young professionals as well as with expatriate families, who hail mostly from Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Britain and mainland Europe. Later, more basic amenities and facilities are brought into the area, some became up-scaled within time to reflect the demography of the residents here.
