Kota Padawan is a sub-district of the city of Kuching, in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. The name is also used to refer to the local government in Sarawak, the Padawan Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Padawan), and to Bidayuh Village, which is also known as Kampung Padawan. The Jalan Padawan is the name of a road near mile 23 of Kuching-Serian Highway.

How to Get There

By Plane

If you are traveling by air, air transportation can be reached by Kuching International Airport (IATA: KCH, ICAO: WBGG), an airport which serves the southwestern region of Sarawak, Malaysia. The airport is located 11 km south of Kuching city center. Kuching International Airport (KIA) is located about 4 miles from Kota Padawan (10th mile), hotspot area.

By Car

Kota Padawan is connected with Kuching-serian Highway, while 10th mile junction has its own Borneo Heights Link, uptown towards Borneo Highland Resort. Most land transportation are taxis, buses, mini van (or called 'Van Sapu') which still popular among the region.

Cat Museum

Cat Museum is definitely one place you should visit when you are in the city of cat, Kuching. It is a plus if you are a cat lover. The theme of the museum - cat is undoubtedly one of a kind in the world. There are 2000 exhibits, artifacts, statues about cats from all over the world. According to Malaysian and Chinese beliefs, the cat is a lucky animal.There are almost everything that are related to cats can be found in the museum. One interesting fact of the museum is that the cat artifacts displayed were on show in the year of 1987 for the first time in National Museum, Kuala Lumpur. Later, the whole displays were transferred to Kuching and the gallery was officially opened to public in 1988. The museum is filled with articles, paintings, posters, toys and uncountable figurines of cats. Apart from posters and paintings of cats, there is also an Egyptian mummified cat as one of the exhibits in the museum. However, noted that you have to pay if you wish to take photos of the exhibits with prices varies according to camera phones, digital cameras and a video camera. Still, entrance fee and parking requires no charges. Kuching Cat Museum is located on the Ground Floor of the Kuching North City Hall (Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara - DBKU) Headquarters Building where the building is situated in Bukit Siol, Jalan Semariang, Petra Jaya. The museum is situated on the hill of Bukit Siol, around 60 meters above sea level. To get to the Kuching Cat Museum, take the bus - Petra Jaya Transport No. 2B or 2C anywhere from the Kuching city. Car rental and Uber are available in Kuching. You can also drive to the museum. Firstly, drive to Satok Suspension Bridge, and then drive to Normah Medical Centre. Then, turn to Jalan Semariang and head to the DBKU. Heading towards Satok Suspension Bridge. Then proceed to the direction of Normah Medical Centre. After that turning to Jalan Semariang heading towards DBKU.

The Bunuk Longhouse

The Bunuk Longhouse is located at 50 Km Penrissen Road. Some 80 Bidayuh Families live together in this longhouse. A round shaped Pangah (a ceremonial building) is an attraction in this longhouse. There is a mini museum displaying some private collection of antiques of the ceremonial chief En. Peka. It is open to the public. A small shop at the entrance of the Kampung has bottled drinks and local produce such as peppers, etc, offered for sale. You can also pick up some antiques for a very reasonable price.
