Wow! The room exceeded my expectations! I am fascinated that the rooms have themes (mine is galaxy theme room). They have dedicated lights and decors that is really unique. I love that the room is very clean and tidy. They also have free wifi so you can be connected all the time. You don't have to worry about being thirsty because they will provide bottles of water. Their bed is also spacious and you'll surely be comfortable in your sleep. Overall, I am beyond satisfied in my stay!

Guadalupe Nuevo Hotels

About

Tucked between barangays Guadalupe Viejo and Cembo, Guadalupe Nuevo is one of the older neighborhoods of Makati City. With its proximity to the bustling master planned community of Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, the historic Barangay Poblacion, and the Makati Central Business district, it is an ideal place to book a hotel for your next holiday.

At a Glance

The eastern and western flanks of Guadalupe Nuevo are bordered by 2 main thoroughfares, the Epifaño de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and the Kalayaan Avenue, respectively. The areas around these roads are dominated by commercial establishments, while the more interior portions are mostly residential in nature. More than 18,000 people currently reside in this part of Makati City.

How to Go

By land transportation

The two main modes of transportation that people use to go to Guadalupe Nuevo are trains and buses. The MRT 3, otherwise known as the Blue Line, is the main train line that services EDSA. You have to alight at Guadalupe Station and cross over to the other side of EDSA to reach Guadalupe Nuevo. Buses also traverse both the northbound and southbound sides of EDSA. You simply have to get off the Guadalupe bus stop on either side of the avenue. If you’re coming from the southbound side, you need to get to the opposite EDSA by crossing the Guadalupe Footbridge, Estrella Overpass, or the bridge of the MRT 3 Guadalupe Station.

By boat/ferry

The barangay can also be reached via the Pasig River Ferry Service, which drops passengers off the Guadalupe Ferry Station. The boats navigate the river from the Plaza Mexico Station in Manila (west) to Nagpayong Station in Pasig City (east).

Getting Around

Guadalupe Nuevo is quite small, and the best way to get around the area is either by walking or by taking any one of the jeepneys that ply its interior roads. A jeepney is a type of public utility vehicle commonly found in Philippine streets.

Tourist Attractions

Within Guadalupe Nuevo, there are a number of attractions that are worth visiting. A sight you shouldn’t miss while in this barangay is the National Shrine of the Our Lady of Guadalupe along Orense Street. Its elevated façade makes it difficult to spot, but its spacious interior is stunning. Its white walls, stained-glass windows and wide aisle leading to an elevated altar make it the perfect place to witness a grand wedding. There are other noteworthy churches in nearby communities, like the magnificent Nuestra Señora de Gracia at Guadalupe Viejo. Built in the 17th century, it is the oldest and most historic parish in Makati.

A great thing about being in Guadalupe Nuevo is that attractions in neighboring barangays are within easy reach. The Mind Museum at J. Y. Campos Park in Taguig, for example, is just 15 to 20 minutes away.  This museum features a variety of fascinating indoor and outdoor exhibits about science and technology that tourists of all ages can enjoy.

Travelers can also venture out to see other major hotspots outside of the barangay without much hassle. By riding the many available jeepneys and buses, visitors can stop by other tourist draws in Makati and in areas like Taguig, Mandaluyong, and Pasig.

Things to Do

Guadalupe Nuevo is home to many small but thriving commercial and entertainment centers that you can visit for some fun. Sporty and active visitors can break a sweat by playing badminton at the Dragon Gym Badminton Complex in Guadalupe Commercial Center or shoot some hoops at the Cloverleaf Basketball Court. For a more relaxing afternoon, going for a stroll through Guadalupe Nuevo Cloverleaf Park is a good alternative.

Don’t forget to check out the assortment of fresh produce and food items at the Guadalupe Public Market, the largest market in Makati. Located at Guadalupe Commercial Center, this shopping outlet offers a wide range of dry and wet goods at great prices. There are also stalls that sell affordable apparel, household essentials, and other products. You can also stop by the Unimec Supermarket at P. Victor Street for your shopping needs.

You can also opt to visit other areas close to the barangay for some unique activities. Just 3 kilometers away is Mystery Manila at the Century City Mall in Poblacion. This establishment has a variety of rooms and gives guests an immersive and engaging mystery and crime solving experience. From disarming a bomb to finding your way out of a locked room, this game is sure to be challenging but enjoyable.

Where to Eat

As Guadalupe Nuevo is a residential and commercial community, most of the dining options available are fast-food joints and small eateries. But the variety is sure to please hungry tourists.

The Guadalupe Commercial Center houses many well-known fast-food restaurants like Jollibee, KFC, McDonald’s, and Chowking that are open for people to dine in.

There are also a number places that serve delicious burgers, such the Boss Burger in Orense. Here, you can indulge in tasty burgers named after car brands and motoring terminologies. Must-tries include Yamaha Classic, Riding in Tandem, and Honda. They also sell hot dogs and other side dishes like fries and nachos.

Nightlife

While there are a few small bars that serve drinks, this barangay offers little in terms of nightlife establishments. Instead, you can spend the night sipping hot beverages and iced coffee blends in cafes like Bretz Café in Fabian Yabut Street. For livelier nightlife choices, visitors have the option of going to the nearby barangays of Poblacion and Bel-Air.

Where to Stay

Visitors can choose from a selection of great and affordable hotels and inns in this barangay that can be their home away from home. Just Beds Apartelle on Kalayaan Avenue is one such place. This hostel is perfect for budget travelers looking for a comfortable stay.  Just Beds Apartelle has rooms with reasonable prices and decent facilities plus an accommodating staff that will cater to every guest’s needs.

Another comfortable lodging option is the Vista Apartelle on Magsaysay Street. This establishment’s amenities include clean rooms, a restaurant, a luggage storage, and parking space. It is also close to a number of attractions in Makati, like the Makati Museum and the Power Plant Mall.

Tourists can also book a room at Sogo Hotel along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue. Aside from having well-kept rooms and clean bathrooms, the establishment also has free parking, 24-hour room service, and breakfast meals. The location of this hotel is also convenient, as it is close to the Guadalupe Station (within walking distance), the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (about 1 hour away), and a few major shopping malls.

Travel Tips

  • Be wary of traffic. Avoid taking buses to Guadalupe Nuevo during peak hours or in rainy weather, as EDSA is the most congested highway in Metro Manila.

  • Opt to book rooms that face away from the highway. Since two main thoroughfares border the barangay, hotels situated along the road may experience heavy noise at certain hours.

  • Visit the barangay during festivals. Much of the festivities in Guadalupe Nuevo are Catholic Feasts but the community is also involved in one of Makati’s biggest celebration, the Caracol Festival. This fiesta features students from different Makati public schools parading in colorful nature-themed costumes. There are also street dancing and costume contests.
