Got my room 6PM. I understand the hotel was full but check-in time is 2PM. Nothing offered other than late check-out. Definitely not five star.

    Urdaneta Hotels

Located in the heart of the Makati Central Business District, Barangay Urdaneta is considered one of the best places to live in Metro Manila due to its proximity to Ayala Avenue, Legaspi Village, and Salcedo Village. But just because you don’t own a house there doesn’t mean you can’t find interesting places in the area. Find out what you can do in Urdaneta with this city guide.

Urdaneta is Makati City’s smallest barangay. It is bound by Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Buendia Avenue, and ESDA. As the barangay’s primary purpose is to serve as a purely residential area, putting up business establishments is highly discouraged within the village. Thus, you’ll only find commercial establishments along the periphery of the barangay and in places such as the DBP Bulding, Tuscany Condominium, and the Metrobank Plaza.

    How to Go

    By land transportation

There are a number of buses that pass through Ayala Avenue, such as those that take the LRT-Ayala Leveriza and Fairview routes. Get off once you reach Glorietta and use the pedestrian underpass in order to cross Ayala Avenue and go to Urdaneta. A good landmark to look for is the Ritz Towers.

You’ll easily find many jeeps that pass by Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, or Buendia Avenue. Some routes you can take include Makati Loop, Ayala – Washington, Ayala – Mantrade, Makati Ave – Burgos, and Ayala – Pateros. To make sure that you don’t miss your stop, ask the driver to drop you off at Barangay Urdaneta.

Or you can also take the MRT3 to Ayala Avenue, then go down the stairs and cross McKinley Road to get to the Shell Gas Station, where the Ayala-Washington jeepney terminal is located. Ask the driver to drop you off at Barangay Urdaneta.

    Getting Around

As Urdaneta is relatively small, the best way to get around the area is by walking, especially as there are no public utility vehicles within the village area. Another option is to rent and ride a bike around the area instead.

    Tourist Attractions

    Ayala Triangle Disney Lights

There are many places to check out near Urdaneta, all of which are a short walk or jeep ride away. For fresh food and great local products, visit the Salcedo Saturday Market and Legazpi Sunday Market. If you happen to be in the area during the Christmas season, you can’t miss the Light Show at Ayala Triangle. For some background on Philippine culture, you can check out the Ayala Museum and the Filipinas Heritage Library.

History buffs may also want to visit the San Pedro Macati Church, also known as the Saints Peter and Paul Parish Church, located in Barangay Poblacion. Those looking to shop can spend all day at the Glorietta, Landmark, and Greenbelt malls.

    Top Things to Do

Within Barangay Urdaneta itself, there are also interesting spots that you can check out. If you’re in the mood for some arts and culture, you might want to spend the day at the Luz Gallery and the Tin-aw Art Gallery to view their collections.

On the weekends, you can enjoy a picnic with family and friends at the Urdaneta Village Park, where you may also find some of the locals playing football or running along the jogging track.

    Where to Eat

For those who work on the go, you’ll love what the co-working space and restaurant 59c has to offer, which include snacks and full meals to tide you over as you get things done. Want something organic? Head on over to Heathy Eats Organic Store and Café where you can get your fill of healthy meals. Once you’re ready for dessert, you can stop by Nikko’s Baking Studio and try out some of their popular cakes.

Try 1824 Whisky and Cigar Bar at the Discovery Primea, which is open from late noon till midnight. Going a little over curfew? You could also hop over to The Bar at The Peninsula, which is open until 2AM from Monday to Sunday. If you want to listen to a live band, you may want to pay Society Lounge a visit.

    Where to Stay

Aiming for a place with convenience? You can stay at A. Venue Makati, which has its own mall nearby. You could also opt to stay at Somerset Olympia for something a little fancier. If you would like to stay somewhere more luxurious, you may book a room at the Peninsula Hotel or the Makati Shangri-La.

    Travel Tips

  • Research the jeepney routes beforehand. It’s easy to confuse one route for another, so make sure you’ve taken notes on which ones will actually take you to your destination.
  • Use the underpasses as instructed. Makati has very strict traffic rules, not just for motorists, but for pedestrians, too. Don’t jaywalk, or you might end up paying a steep fine.
  • Only board and alight PUVs at designated stops. Similar to the last tip, passengers have to abide by the law at all times, so don’t pick a fight with the driver if he says that you’ll have to walk from the correct stop.
