Tengah Beach, Langkawi is a beach stretch located in the Langkawi Island, an island renown as a tourist destination and also for its duty-free goods. Basically a continuation of the Cenang Beach after the rocky cliff, it is easily found at the southern road bend of the beach, being really close to resorts, duty free zones, malls, hotels and other attractions the island could offer. Tengah Beach is the longest beach stretch on the island with 700 meters of length, and is much quieter and peaceful compared to Cenang Beach. As such, the beach is without doubt, a great spot for both romantic couples and families wanting some quality time.

Upon reaching the beach, visitors may find a row of palm and coconut trees providing shades on a sunny day lining up around. The waters are beautiful and the sand is pristine, which is ideal for parasailing, jet skiing or even plain old sunbathing, just remember to apply sunscreen lotion beforehand. Besides that, the beach is also a food galore with a multitude of restaurants running parallel to the beach as well as souvenir shops. The rocky cliff is also the highlight of this beach, which separates it from the Cenang Beach, and provides a wonderful view from the top. Nearby, there are boat operators offering island hopping services to the nearby islands like Pulau Beras Basah, Pulau Rebak Kecil, Pulau Singa Besar and many more.

How to Get There

By Plane

There are flights to Langkawi Island provided by Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia. From there onwards, guests can make way via taxi or rent a car to the Tengah Beach.

By Bus

The Shahab Perdana express bus terminal is located at Jalan Sultanah Sambungan, Alor Setar. Take the direct trip from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) terminal using express bus services such as Etika Express or Sri Maju Express. From here, take the local bus to the Kuala Perlis or Kuala Kedah jetties, both will provide water transport to Langkawi Island.

By Boat

There are regular express ferry trips operated by Langkawi Ferry Services from the jetties of Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis to the jetty of Kuah, typically operating from 7 am till 7 pm on a daily basis. The trip is typically charged around twenty five ringgit or less for adults and less than twenty ringgit for children. Overall, it takes about one to two hours to reach Kuah jetty before making way via taxi or renting a car to Tengah Beach.

Langkawi Cable Car

Located at Jalan Telaga Tujuh which is about thirty to forty minutes away from Tengah Beach by driving, the Langkawi Cable Car or also known as Langkawi SkyCab provides an aerial link from the Oriental Village at Teluk Burau to the peak of Gunung Machinchang. Officially opened in 2003 and managed by LADA Eco-Tourism, the total length is 2.2 kilometers, with a journey time from the base to the top of around 15 minutes long.
