Port Weld is a coastal town located in the Matang and Selama district in Perak, Malaysia. The name Port Weld was named after the former governor of the Straits Settlements in Perak, Sir Frederick Weld. The place is now officially known as Kuala Sepetang though most of the English-speaking locals still call it as Port Weld. Kuala Sepatang is a thriving fishing village and a Chinese community. There is a train station and also a railway track running through the Kuala Sepetang town to Taiping, and this railway was built back around 1885. The railway is the first ever built in the peninsular of Malaysia. Today, the railway is no longer used.
Driving to Kuala Sepetang from the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur will take about three hours via the North-South Highway. Kuala Sepetang is an hour out from Ipoh, Perak, the capital of the state.
Though there are no buses that go to Kuala Sepetang directly from Kuala Lumpur, the town is still accessible via this transportation. This factory was established in the 1930s. This factory shows the productions of the charcoals and what is unique about this place is that it still depends on human labour instead of machineries. At this factory, the visitors can learn and get to know about the details in the productions of charcoals from chopping off the mangrove trees to burning them 14 days straight to turn them to charcoal. The process of this charcoal manufacturing that can take more than one month. The factory opens every day from 9 am to 5 pm. This factory is also one of the largest charcoal factories in Malaysia. Most of its charcoal productions are exported to Japan.

The adventure into the forest is very easy as there are wooden bridges built throughout the forest. There are several species of mangrove trees in the forest reserve. Despite it is located near the town, anyone who visits this mangrove forest, relaxation will surely engulf them.
