About

A preserved forest and that is breathtakingly beautiful, Endau Rompin National Park contains some of the oldest rainforests in the world. Covering an approximate area of 870 km², this national park is located at the south of Pahang to the north east of Johor making it the second largest national park in Peninsular Malaysia after Taman Negara. Featuring rock formations some of them age around 248 million years old, this park contained the largest remaining population of the threatened Northern Sumatran rhinoceros species on the Malay Peninsula. Being a home to a diverse of flora and fauna however, there is a slim chance of spotting them as they have ample space to roam around within the park boundaries. Apart from the rhino, other animals that live in the national park are the white- handed gibbon, Malaysian tiger, Asian elephant, wild boar, tapir, slow loris, deer, long-tail macaques and leopards while the bird species that can be commonly found here are the hornbills and kingfishers. A perfect destination to run away for a while from the hustle and bustle fo the city, people come here for its majestic waterwall and breathtaking view.

As the park is not easily accessible by normal vehicles, it is however a popular attraction especially among adventure seekers. With a special permit of RM10 from the Johor National Park Corporation, there are three entries to this park namely;

  • Selai Entry from Bekok
  • Kampong Peta Entry from Kahang
  • Selendang Entry from Kuala Rompin

It is the Selai entry that is mostly recommended due to good logistics and and well developed infrastructure, especially the road and acommodation. There is also a few packages offered if you plan to enter via this entry. While there is no package offered for the Kampong Peta entry, the Selendang entry is not really remommended as the Facilities and chalet are not in good conditions.
