Luxury Hotels in Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur

Taman Desa is an area located under the Seputeh constituency of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated off the East–West Link Expressway and Jalan Klang Lama, with the history that could be traced back to 1970s when the town is first opened. Here, there are a mix of middle and upper-class condominiums as well as business centers to take advantage of the area’s close proximity to the city center. Among the landmarks here including the Faber Towers which are the earliest skyscraper ever built in the Kuala Lumpur city and the now-closed Desa Waterpark City which has been repurposed for new residential development.

How to Get There

By Car

People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive via the Jalan Syed Putra for immediate access to Taman Desa. The journey could take up around a mere ten minutes depending on the current traffic situation.

By Train

The train lines providing access to Taman Desa are the KTM Klang Valley coach line which stops at Seputeh station. From the centralized KL Sentral station, take a southbound train and drop at the mentioned station before opting for bus, taxi or alternative transport services to go around the area.

Mid Valley Megamall

Mid Valley Megamall or sometimes referred as Mid Valley City, is one of the major shopping malls in the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated between entrance of Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur. Developed by IGB Corporation, this complex was opened in 1999, comprising a shopping mall, an office tower block, 30 offices, and three hotels. With a huge size of 4.5 million square feet of total floor area, where out of this already big space, a total of 1.7 million square feet is leasable space, where large crowds are attracted to come over to visit and shop here due to the variety of shops and dining options available being spread across the five floors. Being awarded as Best Shopping Complex Award 2000 by Tourism Malaysia and Best Retail Development 2001 by FIABCI Malaysia, the mall recently got highlighted a lot by the media due to the multitude of events being organized here at its Exhibition Center, among them are the IT Fair, Home and Decoration Fair as well as the MATTA Fair. There is also another nearby mall connected to the Mid Valley, which is The Gardens Mall being opened much recently.

Thean Hou Temple

Located at Persiaran Endah which is about fifteen minutes away from Taman Desa by car, the temple is one of the oldest and well-maintained religious structures around the area, being built in 1894 by the Kuala Lumpur’s very own Hainanese community when they first moved here. In fact, the temple is among the oldest and largest of its kind in the Southeast Asia region, being the six-tiered Buddhist temple that is also known as the Temple of the Goddess of Heaven. The temple is dedicated specifically to Thean Hou or Tian Hou, a goddess that is said to protect fishermen, nonetheless within the temple, there is also a shrine where many come to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. The temple is built overlooking the Federal Highway, being set on a hill with a wonderful view of the city itself. Upon going in, visitors can find a modern Buddhist pagoda and plenty of Buddha images enshrined in the octagonal hall. There is also a statue of Tian Hou which sits between the Goddess of the Waterfront and the Goddess of Mercy. In addition to these statues, there are statues of Guan Di (the God of War) and Wei Tuo that incorporated elements of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism into its grandiose structure. The temple also features a Chinese medicinal herbs garden and a tortoise pond along with a well; while there is a sacred Boddhi tree located besides the temple.
