Founded in the late 1940s, Pantai Remis is a coastal town in Manjung District, Perak, and is situated in between Taiping and Sitiawan. It is believed that the name comes from a type of sea shell, Remis, that can be found at the estuary of the Bruas River. Today, Pantai Remis serves as a heartland for the surrounding towns. People in this area are mostly agrarian, which means they engage in economic activities that are related with land cultivation. Oil palm, rubber, rice and sugar cane are some of the main crops that are commercially cultivated here.

Despite its remote location, Pantai Remis is equipped with very well educational institutes as well as a good network of roads, thus making it thrives and easily accessed. Being inhabited by multiracial population, there are public schools for Malay as well as private schools for Chinese. Locals here speak in Bahasa Melayu and Chinese with Cantonese dielect. This area is blessed with beautiful sandy beaches.

How to Get There

By Car

If you are driving, you may use PLUS Highway (Lebuh Raya Utara Selatan) that leads to the North. Take the exit at Changkat Jering (Exit 146) and follow that signage that leads to Sri Manjung/ Kuala Koh until you reach Pantai Remis. The journey usually takes approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.

By Bus

Head up to Terminal Bas Bersepadu (TBS) and take a bus to Sri Manjung. The bus fare usually costs around RM25 to RM 27. From there, board a taxi that will take you straight to Pantai Remis.

Segari Turtle Sanctuary

Opened daily for the public, the entrance to this centre is free. This place is one of the government initiatives to ensure the survival of turtles. Visitors get to know the process of breeding the green sea turtles before releasing them to the sea.

Lumut Waterfront

A great place to enjoy the breathtaking view of the sea, visitors would not want to miss the chance to capture mesmerizing photos around this place. People would flood this place on weekends or public holidays. There are also stalls that sell dried marine products and local snacks.
