Opened in 2001, Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral) is a world-class transit-oriented development housing the main railway station of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of the country. It replaced the old Kuala Lumpur railway station as the city’s main intercity railway station, being the largest of its kind. The master plan of KL Sentral is originated from the renowned architect Dr Kisho Kurokawa utilizing the “City within a City” concept.

How to Get There

By Car

People driving from Kuala Lumpur would not have to look far to drive since the station is located a stone’s throw away. One can always go to station facing towards Jalan Tun Sambanthan or Jalan Travers for immediate access to KL Sentral. The journey could take up less than 10 minutes depending on the traffic and the parking availability.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

Being a part of the 60-hectare Lake Gardens established in 1888, the 20.9-acres Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is proud to be the largest free-flight walk-in public aviary, the only one of its kind in the country. This implies that the birds here are being let free in the aviary which is very closely matched to their natural habitat, which is especially true for the three main zones inside the bird park. During the early days, it was a simple residential neighborhood outside the city, however nowadays it is becoming one of the city’s trademark tourist attractions. Among the main features here are the stores selling everything Indian ranging from the traditional Indian goods such as saris, flower garlands, spices and the music of Bollywood to the local delicacies such as vadai, thosai and many more.

Planetarium Negara

It feels incomplete to talk about KL Sentral without mentioning the Planetarium Negara. This blue-domed structure situated at the hilltop of the Lake Gardens is the national planetarium which functions to promote space exploration. Opened in 1994, it comprises a massive 120, 000 square feet area with a space theatre and other exhibits related to space science. Entrance is charged at twelve ringgit for adults and eight ringgit for children, it is open to the public from 9 am to 4.30 pm daily except Mondays.
