Beluran is a town located in Sandakan Division, in the east Sabah, Malaysia. Formerly, Beluran was known as Labuk-Sugut. It was then changed to the word ‘Buludan’ or ‘Buudan’ which means the hills in the Tidong language. However, during the time of the British colonization, the name can’t be pronounced properly, hence it became ‘Beluran’. Beluran population is a mixture of many ethnic groups, whereby the four largest components are the Tidong, Kadazan, Dusun and Orang Sungai communities.
There are flights to Sandakan provided by Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia. From the airport, guests may hail a taxi to reach Beluran.
Bus services to Sandakan are available at Inanam Bus Terminal. On the way to Sandakan, one may opt to leave at the Beluran junction and continue the journey to Beluran by taxi.

The Sandakan Memorial Park is located at the suburb of Taman Rimba, about 11 km from the Sandakan town. The Sandakan Memorial Park covers an area of 11 hectares beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. The park includes a small museum for visitors to dig in the history. The memory of the World War II was recorded by the rusting remains of an excavator, a generator and a boiler. The excavator was used for the construction of the airfield, which was never completed. The generator and the boiler were used for the production of electricity.
The Agnes Keith House is an atmospheric two-storey wooden villa, and former British colonial quarters, is now renovated as a museum. It is situated at the western hill of Sandakan town. The house, was then called “Newlands” portraying a beautiful British style colonial house with a well kept small garden. Restoration of the house was started in 2001 by the Sabah Museum and in 2004, the house was opened to the public. In honour of Agnes work, the Malaysian government has named the house ‘Agnes Keith House’, a special tribute to this award winning American authoress.
