Built in 1912, Cirebon railway station offers the beauty of its building through European-style architecture. This station is designed by combining art nouveau and art deco in which the main characteristic of such styles is white-painted walls and large windows. The station provides several services of a train journey in various classes, including Executive, Business, Mixed class, and AC-plus Economic class (Jayabaya and Krakatau).
Cirebon railway station is located in Kejaksan subdistrict, or to be exact, in Siliwangi Street, Kebonbaru, Kejaksan, Cirebon, West Java 45122. Because of its location, this station is also popular by the name Kejaksan railway station. It is the biggest station in the Operating Region III of Cirebon and located not far from Cirebon City Hall. Such condition gives the station a strategic position, making it easy to reach from any other area in the city.

Cirebon is a port city located in the northern coastal area of West Java, a part of Pantura route or Indonesian National Route I. The origin of Cirebon
Based on one belief, the origin name of “Cirebon” came from a small village named “Caruban." The village was built by Ki Gendheng Tapa as a staying place for migrants from other cultures and regions. Another belief confirms that “Cirebon” is the combination of two Sundanese words: Cai which means water and Rebon for shrimp. The name was inspired by the local people’s bread and butter that work as fishermen who also catch shrimps.
Cirebon language
Although Sundanese is the mother language of people who live in West Java, the same rule does not apply to those who live in Cirebon. Located at the border between West Java and Central Java makes Cirebon people speak either Sundanese or Javanese, depending on the area they live.
People who live in northern part of Cirebon speak Javanese in Cirebon accent. Meanwhile, those who live in central part such as Kuningan, Majalengka, and Brebes, communicate using Sundanese in Cirebon dialect.
Cirebon owns the largest batik production center in Indonesia
Besides Yogya and Solo, Cirebon is also famous for batik production. The special pattern of Cirebon batik, namely mega mendung, is formerly used by the royal family of Kasepuhan and Kanoman Palace before being introduced to the public.
The largest batik production industry in Cirebon, “Batik Trusmi” is located in Trusmi Village, Trusmi Kulon No. 148, Plered. In this place, you can observe and learn how batik is made besides buying hundreds of batik in various shapes, patterns, and materials.
