    Calapan City Hotels

"The administrative capital of Mindoro Oriental is a major stop for travelers going to and from Batangas and beyond. It's also a good base for hiking Mt. Halcon and knowing more about Mangyan culture through the Mangyan Heritage Center, situated at the heart of Calapan City. Make a detour to Silonay Mangrove Conservation Eco-Tourism Park then have lunch at Baco Infinity Farm."

Dive into your new adventure. An idyllic scenery awaits visitors of Calapan City. Tourists will surely be charmed of what it has to offer such as its mountains, culture, and history.

    Baco-Chico Islets Calapan

Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro is often overshadowed by the most recognized municipality, Puerto Galera. Yet it needs to be explored by tourists especially those who are seeking a laid-back vibe. It serves as the gateway to the Oriental Mindoro province via the Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH) an integrated ferry project that extends further to the southern part of the Philippines. Calapan has a rugged terrain and irregular coastline.

    How to Go

    By boat/ferry

Oriental Mindoro can be reached through land and sea transport. From Manila, take the Batangas-Laguna-Tayabas (BLTB), Tritran, and other Batangas-bound buses to the Batangas City pier. From there, take the super ferry boats bound for Calapan, which has several trips per day, or those bound for Puerto Galera. A roll-on-roll-off (RO-RO) ferry is convenient for those wishing to take their private vehicles.

The Calapan City Seaport is the largest and busiest seaport on Mindoro Island, which is just 45 minutes away by ferry boats and roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ships to-and-from Batangas City International Seaport.

    Getting Around

In Calapan, a number of jeepneys ply the capital from the neighboring towns and to the interior.

    Tourist Attractions

Oriental Mindoro is a real-life paradise–white sand, crystal clear water, lush green forests covering majestic mountains, and splendid waterfalls. One can find leisure and pleasure amidst a gorgeous natural landscape that has given each guest a fun-filled and relaxing trip over the years. With its largely unspoiled natural beauty, the province has much to offer in terms of tourism and other economic opportunities.

    Mount Halcon

Enjoy leisurely treks to many of the inner destinations of the island, dense forests, and the famous Mt. Halcon. Towering at 8,488 above sea level, Mt. Halcon is a favourite destination for nature tripping and mountain climbing. Climb its peak to obtain sweeping panoramas of the Mindoro's land and seascapes. The province also offers scouting, hiking and camping, having retained most of its wilderness.

    Top Things to Do

Calapan is touted as one of the country's emerging eco-tourism destinations. The province has long been known for its many spectacular attractions that have offered its visitors moments of adventure and leisure they won't soon forget. Mindoro Oriental has many islets, which can provide excellent venues for family outings and picnics. The province's elongated coastlines harbor coral reefs teeming with marine life of interest to snorkelers and clear blue water for swimming.

The province is also perfect for birdwatching activities of local and migratory species, and is home to mammals like the Tamaraw, an endemic straight-horned water buffalo, reptiles and plant species found nowhere else. Oriental Mindoro is also called and known now as the LUPAIN NG MAHALTA. Tamaraw (TA), various flora and fauna found on slopes of Mount Halcon (HAL) and the native Mangyans (MA), all together add vibrancy to the colors and the richness of nature and culture of the province.

    Tamaraw Falls

Visit the 423-foot Tamaraw Falls. Situated alongside the road, it’s a series of asymmetrical falls, leading to the grand one, dropping to a frothy waterbed below. The cascading waterfall is a great attraction to passers-by.

If you’re in for some water sports, La Laguna Resort, Luz Del Mar Seaside Resort, Calapan Bayside Resort and Anahaw Island View Resort are some of the resorts that offer accommodation and other aqua sports facilities to both domestic and international tourists. You have several options of staying overnight, dining in, and camping by the bay. Any of which treats you to a star-gazing or moon-staring pleasure.

    Where to Eat

If you’re in Puerto Galera, Puerto Galera’s Yacht Club is a hidden gem, perched in the trees on the west edge of Muelle Bay. A free shuttle boat operates from the Muelle pier waterfront or you can drive there easily enough. They have the best cocktail sunset drinks and barbecue in town. At the end of the La Laguna Beach is a pub called Full Moon that serves excellent chilli con carne—it’s the real McCoy. They also have pastas, steaks and curries are some of their other specialties. Their Full Moon Breakfast contains every breakfast ingredients you could dream of.

    Calapan buttered chicken

In the heart of Calapan is another restaurant worth visiting. Wil’s Diner, a sports bar and restaurant that serves one of the best buttered chicken. Crispy and garlicky, the buttered chicken is such a winner. A peaceful little cafe tucked incongruously into the middle of Calapan's chaotic centre is Dutch Café. It serves coffee drinks, a few snacks, wi-fi and even air-con! It's just north of the town's central traffic light. A larger second branch is next to the Filipiniana Hotel.

Calapan City’s natural jewels are positioned through a spectacular backdrop of the ocean where bistros and resorts shape up an amazing feel for vacation and enjoyment. Sing your hearts out or dance to the reggae beat while enjoying the city’s nightlife at Calapan’s rows of bistros.

    Where to Stay

Calapan also takes pride in its first-class hotels and lodging houses that enclose their in-house cafes, restaurants, bar and lounges. Filipino and international cuisines are served day and night. Some of these hotels are Calapan Bay Hotel, Rodina Lodge, Macro Vincent Inn, Blue Harbor Hotel , Riceland Hotel, Hotel Mayi and Filipiniana Microtel Inn and Suites.

    Travel Tips
