Hotels in Tanjung Aru

Tanjung Aru is located around 6 km from Kota Kinabalu city centre. It is one of the beaches that stretches along the West Coast of Sabah. Its name was derived from the casuarina trees which is locally called as ‘Aru’ trees that grow on the shoreline. Tanjung Aru provides the best spot to view the greatest sunset without having any obstruction.

How to Get There

By Plane

There are flights to Kota Kinabalu provided by Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air and Air Asia. From Kota Kinabalu airport, guests may then hail a taxi or a minivan to reach Tanjung Aru.

By Bus

Bus services to Tanjung Aru are available at Wawasan Plaza Bus Terminal.

By Train

The train station and terminal is located in Tanjung Aru that connects Tanjung Aru to Tenom and several other towns in between, managed by the Sabah State Railway providing daily services.

Tanjung Aru Beach

A family favourite hangout spot for sightseeing and enjoying the breeze looking over a clear, open views of magnificent natural canvas of colours portraying the land, the sea and the sky. Signal Hill

Signal Hill is a hill once used to signal ships approaching the harbour. There is a roofed observation platform that offers the best place for getting the good view of Kota Kinabalu featuring a bird’s eye view of the town center as well as the distant view of Tanjung Aru and Likas Bay areas.

The Atkinson Clock Tower

This all wood, no nails clock tower was built in 1903 by Mary Edith Atkinson in remembrance of her son, Francis George Atkinson who died of Borneo fever or simply termed as ‘Malaria’ at the age of 28 years old. This tower has been marked as one of the three survived structures following the allied bombings during the World War II.
