Small portion, tastes okay
Meals served in small portion. Do expect half the size of an average portion anywhere else. The food tastes okay. Japanese Bento average about 50k rupiah (approx US$3.6), Breakfast set approx 30k rupiah (approx US$2.2). Little customers eat there. If you seriously crave for Japanese food, I won't recommend this place. However it is okay for a casual meal. They run an apartment for rent too. Stayed there in August 2015 - terrible stay. 1. Extremely filthy toilet and room. Actual condition far from the photos on internet. 2. Swimming pool, the most turbid pool I have ever seen in my life. Gym and laundry use up to 8pm only. 3. No WiFi in the room, you can only use WiFi at restaurant or rooftop with low signal and frequent cut-offs. It isn’t true on internet that there’s WiFi. 4. The first night, no electricity. 5. Each towels provided, dirty with obvious marks and stains (each one of them). 6. Location far from beach – walking distance at least 20 minutes, walk via the complicated roads within a village – not recommended(dangerous, there's barely light in the village and you’d easily get lost due to the complicated alleys, twists and turns), or via the busy main street with narrow pedestrian walk ways – not recommended if alone or if you have children or handbags; better alternative be getting a taxi, fare approx 30k rupiah (that’s the minimum payment, the actual meter would go approx 12k rupiah only). Not a convenient location unless you ride a motorbike or are prepared to take taxis. 7. They have a driver, you can pre-order a trip but they’d probably call off last minute (literally as late as your departure time) without giving explanations. My friends and I planned a trip to Ubud and had the driver booked 3 days in advance. When we were waiting for the driver on that day, the apartment owner came to inform that “the driver will not come, sorry”. Disappointing. We ended up delaying departure by looking for taxis and ended up paying much more, with much shorter time spent in Ubud. 8. There’s a Japanese staff to liaise with the apartment guests, but less helpful. For any info regarding Bali or Jimbaran, he’d ask you to check with the housekeeping staff (who are locals speaking minimum English), or he’d ask you to check on the internet. When I had WiFi connection problem at their restaurant and asked for his assistance, he was there just to inform that "sorry, we can't do anything about it". 9. Electricity expenses not included, you have to pay separately. Wouldn’t know if they are honest with it. 10. 24 hours of noise, the apartment is facing a very, very busy street with heavy traffic. 11. Bad timing management. If you (in advance) order a meal to be served at certain time, do expect a delay of 15-30 minutes. Generally it wasn’t a pleasant stay, especially the part liaising with the apartment owner. Staying here you have no rights (literally, they aren’t open for feedback at all which is not a common practice for Bali tourism, nor the Japanese), you’d be pretty much pressured. When I requested to change room due to the filthy toilet and room, their position was “take it or leave it”. In the end they changed room for me but requested me to pay again the electricity usage prepaid of 102k rupiah (which I already paid for the first room, they claimed it can’t be carried over). They may offer cheaper rate for rooms with attached toilet but you’d end up paying more, than staying other budget hotels with better location, room condition and facilities. That moment when you make a request, be prepared to be answered "sorry we can't do anything because your room is cheap".
