This was a good quick place to stop in Ubud. The prices were good and sometimes its hard to find Indian food in Ubud.

Beautiful vegetarian dishes
This restaurant has superb, home made food. I had an eggplant dish called Bengan Tamatar with a Mango Lassi, and both were perfect. I must go again soon and try a paneer dish.

Delicious food, family restaurant, nice location.
This is a family run, vegetarian Indian restaurant in a quiet village just outside Ubud called Penestanan. It's about a ten/fifteen minute walk from Ubud centre. It's quite a quiet location on a street with a few other pescetarian, vegetarian and vegan restaurants - as well as restaurants serving meat. We are not vegetarian, but love Indian food, and this was delicious. There is no MSG used and everything is made to order. The Aloo Gobi is absolutely delicious, and should definitely be on your order. The Malai Kofta -vegetable kofta - in a tomato sauce was also very good. But then, everything was good. One thing to bare in mind is that this is not a fancy up-market restaurant. As mentioned before, it is a family run place. Everything is made to order, so it takes a while to be prepared. So maybe don't go if you are looking for something in a hurry. And if you do go, be prepared for a little wait. But the owner does mention that. Another thing is, it is closed on Tuesdays. Having been there, I looked up some of the reviews here and was surprised to see a few negative reviews. I think if you go with the mindset that you are getting home cooked food, you will not be disappointed. It is truly delicious, the staff are very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. We will be going back for a fourth meal there before we leave Ubud.
