Alcohol and Yoga Doesn’t Mix
Warung Sanje is a tiny little bar on the roadside in Sanggingan. The food is ok but for what it is perhaps the price tag should be considerably lower. Unfortunately we chose the wrong time of the day to dine. Apparently it’s an expatriate bar that attracts some of the loudest and crudest heavy drinkers in the area along with a few heavily tattooed yogis. We felt very uncomfortable so we left as soon as we finished our meal. To our indignation, one of the drunken customers suggested we were wimps if we didn’t join them in copious rounds of vodka shots and beer chasers. There are many small warungs with inexpensive and tasty food so unless you’re looking for a rowdy bar we suggest you stay clear of this place.

Tiny place, tasty food
As the food is cooked to order, there is a bit of a delay with service, but that's OK. When it emerged it was very tasty, and prices were standard. Seems to have a Canadian connection, but the staff are Balinese. Only two tables so you take your chnces.

Warung Sanje - A Cool Spot in Ubud
Warung Sanje is a little grass roofed shack that sits on the side of the main road in North Ubud, Jalan Raya Sanggingan. it's about 300 meters up the road from the Bintang Supermarket in a little strip of shops. Nearly every day a cast of characters shows up there to hang out, for sunset beers, chat and play music (you're welcome to bring your own play list!). It's one of those "don't be shy" kinda places where you can just plop down at the bar and say hi! I did :) The beer is really cold (as are all the other drinks), the food is wholesome, and it's a great place to while away a couple hours in Ubud!
