Off the beaten track but well worth a visit
This restaurant is worth a detour. For the food of course but also the people. So starting with the food, I ordered a Nasi Goreng (typical fried rice dish) which was prepared fresh within minutes. It was deliciously flavourful. And because it’s holiday time, I ordered dessert too and chose banana fritters (once again cooked from fresh). The lovely surprise is that they weren’t greasy at all. Putu, the owner, was amazingly entertaining, teaching me a few words of Balinese over a fresh cup of ginger tea along with his brother from another mother (sorry dear, I didn’t catch your name). The Chef, Mudana, is Putu’s real brother. He has learnt his culinary skills in top Asian hotels. This was quite visible in the way the dishes were presented. He gave me a tour of his kitchen where he was getting ready for some Balinese cooking lessons the following morning. A simple and heartwarming experience which ended up with Putu dropping me back to my hotel on his motorbike. Thank you for your kindness.

Best Value dining in Sanur
The most delicious meal I ate this visit to Bali. Amazing, quality food at the most reasonable prices and Chef Mudana and his team are most welcoming and friendly

We had dinner at Makan on a couple of occasions during our stay in Sanur late January early February as we were staying close by. We were not disappointed! The food is good quality and so is the service. Overall really good value. Warung Makan also runs a cooking school which I may try on my next visit.
