We have walked past a few times on past visits to the area but after reading TA reviews we realised we had been missing something and headed straight there when we arrived in Lovina this time. We were not disappointed. We ordered the Rice Table, a generous nasi campur, enough for 2 good eaters, and all beautifully tasty and freshly cooked to our requested level of spiciness (IDR150,000). To treat ourselves we had 2 special desserts not on the menu. By talking with Wayan we were served perfect dadar (a favourite of mine) along with a bowl of kolak. A large cold Bintang (with an iced glass) and a large iced tea rounded out the meal for about IDR 255,000. Not the cheapest Warung but delicious (enak sekali). We’ll definitely be making another visit before we leave Lovina.

This is my fourth visit to Lovina over more than twenty years. Each time I try out some new paces to eat and inevitably find myself disappointed. Perhaps I am spoilt because my partner is a first rate cook. The saving grace is Warung Jegeg. Although located on a busy main road with an antrance next to a less than attractive building, the food offered more than compensates. Wayan is lovely but also an exceptional cook. She understands good food and has an excellent palate. The menu is extensive but I mostly stick with the Balinese ese food with some Indonesian thrown in. Try the curries and rendangs, the dishes steamed in banana leaves, the vegetable dishes including uraban, the beautiful fried fish and calamari. This is a foodie’s paradise at ridiculously low prices to boot. She also offers excellent cooking classes. If you are a food lover, you will not be disappointed. Bonney Bombach Hydeaway Bay Australia

I have known Wayan, the owner of Warung Jegeg, for 25 years. Whenever I return to Lovina I look for her restaurant. Her style of cooking is exceptional. I particularly like the crispy calamari and crispy chicken (which I tried with her newly added Cajun Sambal which was delicious although all her sambals are very good) and the chicken rendang. Currently the front of her warung is undergoing construction but look beyond this and you will love the food an become a repeat customee lile so many others.
