Enriching Your Manadonese Culinary Journey
It has been a long time since the last time I enjoyed the Manadonese Food. As one of the centre of culinary art from Celebes Island, Manado has offered a very wide selection of dishes, from appetizers, snacks, soups, amin courses, and desserts, and also a wide variation of ingredients used in it. But, please be ready with the hot and spicy sensation in almost every dishes you will gonna take. I chose Waroeng Baku Dapa at ITC Cempaka Mas for my lunch while I was waiting for my colleague to attend a business meeting. The front liners were very enthusiast to welcome every guest whom got closer to them, including myself at that time. Please do not feel surprised when they called you "Om or Tante" instead of "Pak/Bu/Mas/Mbak/Kak". It has been their culture.Snacks and beverages were available at the front, while main courses were inside the dining room. There were a lot of choices which had been ready to be served. And as I remembered that Manado is well-known for its fish dish, I chose two kinds of fish dishes (Sambal Ikan Roa and Stuffed Fish Roe), 1 vegetable dish (Daun Pepaya) and Sambal Dabu-Dabu. I also ordered Es Kacang Merah (Red Bean Ice) for my dessert. In my judgement, the food ware excellent: portion size, the balance of taste, and the price (even though it was not a cheap dish). For the dining room, it was quite comfortable, with a hand-washing station and free wi-fi available. The cleanliness was good. But, if you are looking for non-halal and unique dishes which usually be a trademark in Manadonese Food, you should find in another Manadonese Restaurant because they do not serve.
