A friend of mine introduced me to Veggie Karma and it became one of my favourite places in Ubud. They have an amazing selection of vegan dishes so full of flavor. I am not vegan but didn't miss meat at all while eating here. My friend and I spent a good 5 hours talking and eating and when we went to pay, insisted on paying more as we had stayed for so long. The staff refused to accept a higher payment! Would definitely recommend it to others.

Vegan restaurant for an affordable price. There aren't that many options but the food is delicious. You can also can order from the menu. Nice view in the back of the restaurant too.

We ended up here as we got caught in the rain and took a quick decision to enter this vs the next door vegan restaurant. This looked much more welcoming and the drinks were good - we had coconut water, fresh pineapple juice and ginger tea between us. Should've stopped there I guess. We had the buffet and you get what you pay for (5.9$) except that in that price I can get a decent meal in Singapore too despite it being a super expensive city. The food is bland...and since we eat early we probably got left over food from lunch. It was very cold. The waitress was good and the owners rushed in later with a lot of supplies for the next round of cooking so maybe we should've just waited a bit. The buffet spread was generous with fruit, crackers, rice, pumpkin in coconut curry, sauteed veg, potatoes, tempeh and tofu. But everything was super bland. Possibly we should've used the sauces placed there for garnishing and maybe the food is intentionally kept bland to cater to western palates? The owner seemed kind and came round speaking to every table despite the place being packed which I think was very nice of her. A bit more focus on keeping food warm and maybe somewhat spiced would help. Also on a side note (no offense ment to anyone pls) there were only 4 Asian families including us...the rest of the crowd was very much western hippie so do consider this if it bothers you. Not to be offensive but we had to hold our breath each time the folks at the table next to us got up for seconds as they likely hadn't washed since 2017. The place was packed and except for the neatly turned out Asians the rest were pretty much uniform. Otherwise it's centrally located and welcoming. A bit work once you look closely and like all places open to the elements has the mandatory geckos roaming which can be tough if you're not a fan.... lovely tissue origami though! All in all I wouldn't go back.
