Adequate but eaten in dozens better
Nothing massively wrong here, everything was just ok. The service was ok, it came, it went, brought drinks, brought food it worked The food was completely edible but just devoid of taste. The chicken and coconut curry seemed to have included an anorexic chicken and missed off the coconut whilst the veggies had been dumped on as were still hard. Nonetheless I ate it, but simply is not as good as other warungs who try harder. Price was ok for what you had, on the lower side but then the portions were in keeping.

I’m travelling solo and there was a nice table where I didn’t feel hidden away. The meal was delicious. Eggplant and tofu in tomato sauce and a chicken curry. I had ginger tea - delighted to see a real piece of ginger in the very large mug.

My favourite restaurant in Ubud
This restaurant is very popular and busy for a good reason. The food is delicious and very well priced $3-5aud. The yummy kripik (crackers) brought to the table while you wait is a great touch. The iced ginger tea is amazing, as is the local curry and nasi goreng. Best chicken satay I’ve ever had! Presentation is lovely. But get in a bit early as by 7:30ish it’s full and hard to get a table before 9. Ayu the owner of the restaurant and attached guesthouse, Taman Anyar, is just beautiful and very kind. I will miss this restaurant when I leave Ubud. Would be great if they offered cooking classes :-)
