Sportsmans passing.
I'm very glad to hear that the Sportsmans Bar has closed, as it had long lost it's original family vibe and passion for looking after it's locals and foreign customers. The original owner Gary had worked so hard to build a team of staff from the local area that reflected this goal. The new owners took on the benefit of this experience but did not maintain it as to the original standard. Sadly Gary passed away while still in charge. He was a wise and charitable man and is always missed. S.M.

Demise of a great Bar
Unfortunately Sportsmans Bar has finally closed its doors after falling victim to changing lifestyles and redevelopment of the area in Block M. The site is now occupied by a Korean Karaoke Bar/Spa and Restaurant. Gone are those great Sunday afternoon sessions spanning over 35 years, sitting around the Bar chewing the cud with fellow Expats and watching live sport on TV (the first bar in Jakarta to show international sport live). The End of an Era...but something to tell the kids.
