Went here for lunch craving organic and great quality food. Was absolutely delighted. Have spent days eating at Bali Buda and Kafe (famous organic cafes in central Ubud) and food at Sari absolutely as good with beautiful addition of stunning rice paddy location and produce picked from garden and wonderful warm service. Environment and ambience lovely. Returning for dinner. Definitely recommend if you like healthy organic food and charming rustic vibe.

Open-aired dining amongst rice paddies
Sari Organik lies about a kilometre or 2 up a paved path that runs north off the main-drag of Ubud and winds through some small rice paddies. The walk is very easy and quite short - there’s no need to pack any water or supplies, it would take 30 minutes tops at a leisurely pace. The restaurant itself is a fairly basic open-aired area with a good selection of food - including some Western dishes - and drinks. It is not a cut-priced warung though - mains run at 65k plus. The Nasi Campur was very nice, as was the guacamole, although the latter came with fries as opposed to the usual corn chips. Take cash as I couldn’t spot a card facility. It’s a convenient stop-off whilst you’re wandering around the country-side on foot seeing a little more of what Ubud used to be like before Starbucks and the like came to town, but by no means is it an essential visit. In fact there are a number of other restaurants along the way which I suspect would be equally as good if you wanted to stop a little earlier.

I don't get the hype...
I read so many amazing reviews about this place, so I went to a lot of trouble to get here. We caught a cab to the bottom of the road leading to the restaurant, but found the gate locked. They were only letting in motorbikes or pedestrians. It's a 2km walk so we then hired a guy on a motorbike to take us down the long path, dodging pedestrians and other bikes. When we got to the restaurant, in the middle of several rice fields, we were a little underwhelmed. The tables were a bit dirty, the service was slow, the menus were sticky and falling apart. It felt organic, thats for sure. Our meals were OK - I had a tempeh+tofu curry and my friend had the satay chicken with fried rice. The scenery was very peaceful with added rooster crowing every minute. I'm glad I experienced it, but I wouldn't go back.
