A Happy Return
We always eat in this restaurant when in Bali. Chef Bayupati creates wonderful dishes and is great company when having tepenyaki. Worth a visit

Good food and lovely end to our holiday in Meli Bali
Having gone on a Bed and Breakfast basis, so we could go out and about and try the local food, we wanted to dine at Sakura on our final evening at the Melia Bali. There were no tables outside, but the four of us, Mum, Dad and two daughters (10 & 12), were ushered into one of the private dining rooms, leaving your shoes at the door, which was more than an acceptable compromise. After some drinks, we ordered a selection of dishes from the menu, including, prawn roll, salmon avocado mango tartare, beef tataki, chicken teriyaki, sushi selection, sashimi selection and yaki kuruma ebi. The food was very tasty and the service very good. Portions were OK and I could have eaten it twice over, but it was enough. Big thanks to Aris, who taught my youngest to use chopsticks and spent time with us after our meal chatting about Bali, it’s customs and its people. It was expensive, but that was expected given we were dining in the hotel. It was a lovely end to our holiday at the Melia Bali.

Silver Wedding Anniversary Meal Disaster
There were no good points to mention about this restaurant - the alcoholic cocktails tasted like mocktails and the food had no relation to Japanese cuisine, was tasteless and poorly presented. The portions were fine dining size, without any of the quality. The sushi was just about OK but not what you would expect of an expensive restaurant. The service was incompetent - courses served at different times (my wife had eaten her main 25 minutes before mine arrived). There was not a single mention of our silver wedding anniversary which was a disappointment given I had emailed the restaurant 3 weeks earlier explaining the celebration saying we had spent our honeymoon at the hotel 25 years ago In summary : poor taste and bad service. give this place a miss. To add insult to the awful experience the Melia Bali' Quality Manager (Yelyzaveta Kharchenko) writes to me justifying the poor service and non recognition of our wedding anniversary !
