Trendy & Tasty
Walked to Red Salt Cafe from our nearby villa. The decor is done in a trendy, rustic style. We came for dinner, they had windows open which let a nice breeze filter through the restaurant. They also have a small boutique shopping section inside with beautiful local products. The food was very flavorful. Service style was laidback, so don’t expect extra speedy dinner. The staff was very friendly though. We saw a ton of people come by via scooter to pickup food for takeaway. The Bao Buns were the highlight. We ordered several more for lunch the following afternoon. They delivered to our villa which was a huge plus! I’d recommend if you are in the area!

Our favourite restaurant for dinner
We visited Red Salt three nights during our one week stay in Canggu. Every time the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We loved the atmosphere and the beautiful view of the sunset and surrounding rice fields. Because of building developments and delays building a connecting road through to Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan it is a bit of a walk from the main Canggu tourist district but this definitely makes for a lovely, tranquil location. It’s well worth the ten to fifteen minute walk via the beach and Jl. Munduk Kedungu (the road it’s on) has very little traffic and so felt pretty safe to walk along, including at night.

Cute little place, nice and clean though amenities are very basic.
This little establishment comprises a cafe and three villas. Ours was a Superior Queen Room. There was one other villa that looked like it was the same size, plus one three bedroom villa (as informed by the staff). The villa is very basic. It had a queen sized bed, ceiling fan, air conditioning, a fridge, bath and pool towels, and small bars of soap (no shampoo/conditioner, body lotion, shower cap, iron, etc.), and an ensuite bathroom. The three units share a pool, which is right in front of the two similar-sized units. The charming cafe overlooks a paddy field. Breakfast was included in our booking, and we were very satisfied with the portions and menu items. If you don’t see anything you like on the complimentary breakfast menu (which ranges from banana and honey pancakes to scrambled eggs on toast), you can order from their a la carte menu which has a selection of local and western fare. Decently priced. It looked like the cafe was a popular spot even with people who were not staying at the villas. They are open until 10PM. They also have a selection of handcrafted items, in support of the local artisans. The staff were very helpful. You can book transportation (car) or rent motorbikes/mopeds and bicycles from Red Salt. Booking a car using the Grab app is a lot cheaper but we found that drivers were not always available so we just booked transport via the establishment. There is also a local transport service (sorry I don’t have the number, but saw some signs by the road). There is a delightful eatery, Warung Kezia, just across the road. And lots of babi guling in the area! There is a mini market about 10 minutes walk away, which has basics like water, snacks, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc. There are a couple of spas nearby where you can get a massage or your nails done. Echo Beach is a five minute walk away. Red Salt address (from Booking.com) is: Jl. Munduk Kedungu No.29 Br. Pengumbungan, Canggu, 80351
