Absolutely NOT a Middle Eastern restaurant by any description

This is a cheap dodgy 3star hotel attempt at a Middle Eastern themed restaurant. Music that is far too loud, lights that are far too bright, furniture that is far to garish. Chicken Kebob and Middle East Martabak and Middle East Nasi Goreng says it all. Just to be fair we ordered a mango lassi, which is not a middle eastern drink anyway, but wasn't even a lassi. The drink was not bad for a mango syrup milkshake, if only that was what we had ordered... The food took so long and the music got so loud we gave up and left ... I don't think a middle Eastern person has ever stepped foot into this restaurant, or if they did they ran away fast and certainly none ever worked in the kitchen. In fact I don't think anyone who has ever been to the middle east was even involved, which is surprising given how many people have been on haj or studied in the middle east, and how much middle Eastern money has been invested in yogya. If you wanna see what a 3star hotel owner fantasises about the middle east on a bad night, then drop on by, it's entertaining but it's more a weird theme park gone wrong than a restaurant. Imagine a brightly lit school class room that some children helped their fathers design based on what they saw on a TV show... Then throw in some completely inappropriate and loud karaoke style music that their dad's chose and then imagine their mum being asked to cook something middle Eastern so they could have a middle east themed party for their aunts and uncles... Yup you got it I'm not normally so scathing but someone screaming out a poor rendition of 'twist and shout', while I sit under bright fluro lights, till I am forced to give up waiting to be served, isn't my definition of middle eastern hospitality or service. I was excited that Yogya may finally have another global food option, but in the end couldn't have been more dissapointed

Borderline good food experience

Tried this place on a quiet weekday evening. Very quiet restaurant with only one other table occupied by a tourist family. This hotel restaurant is on the 9th floor of a fairly new hotel built in the last two-three years. It is marketed as "the very first sky lounge with Turkish ambience". The rest of the text is fairly incomprehensible hype promoting "delicate bites and dishes" that would "contribute to an unforgettable experience" Now to the facts: Lamb tagine: small portion for the price of Rp 85,000. Delicately seasoned lambs meat in gravy with Arabic rice. The lamb was tasty, the sauce was tangy. I liked this dish. Mint tea: Had mint leaves and was a refreshing drink to combine with the lamb. Baklava: Not up to par. No pistachios on fairly soggy pastry. No honey and overladen with raisins. Sent back to kitchen as unacceptable. was offered another dessert so I chose the Umm Ali. Umm Ali: Not overly sweet. A bit stodgy but quite pleasing overall. Similar to a bread & butter pudding minus the eggs. A bit disconcerting was the restaurant crooner & guitar player belting old evergreens off-key such as Neil Diamond's 'Sweet Caroline". I think Ottoman/Turkish/MENA type music would have been more appropriate for this type of venue. Service was of the "frightened deer in headlights" kind. Knowledge of the contents of the dishes served was little to non-existant as is usual in Yogyakarta. Overall this restaurant deserves 3* out of 5*. There is definitely potential for more. It is overly pricey due to the 'captive market' belief of the F&B manager of this hotel. Erroneous belief for this street and for this town.

Trip to ottoman empire

Great space with a Turkish atmosphere. Music proper selected and food turkish style, the decoration and the floor tiles is very nice and color full combine with nice barroco sofas. Have a nice terrace and the service from the staff is.very attent and fast. Recommended to run away from the italians and western food in jogjakartA
