Excellent food in a charming and characterful colonial setting. Recommended.
This restaurant is located in a large old atmospheric colonial building in Kota Gede, a suburb about a 10/15 minute taxi ride from central Yogyakarta. It's best to negotiate a price with the driver for him to wait and return you to the city centre (your hotel should assist) to avoid any transport problems. The charming entrance passageway has a number of fish ponds and dining tables are located both indoors in A/C rooms and on a large outside terrace overlooking a delightful garden. The menu lists both Indonesian and Western items and we chose the former, and I can certainly recommend the starters of beef satay with a spicy dipping sauce and shared main courses of BBQ King Prawns and spiced duck, with a side order of mie goreng (fried noodles, etc). The presentation was excellent and the service was timely and the waiting staff very helpful. It's worth noting that this restaurant does NOT serve alcohol, although the fruit juices were very good and the sparkling mineral water was very welcome on a muggy tropical night. The final bill (inc. 2 excellent desserts) was around IDR 600,000 (c.£30), which we felt was excellent value, even allowing for the additional taxi costs. It is certainly worth venturing out of the city centre to visit this delightful restaurant...despite the lack of alcohol!

Nice Classic atmosphere with good food
Passing by after strolling through the silver shops, we got hooked up by the classic charme of this restaurant. We just had a cafe and desert which has been really good. The nice backyard is quite relaxing. Nice change of the streets of yogja.
