Once again we have vome to Lalapan in Jakarta for lunch. Despite the theme changing slightly to focus more on seavfood the place is still one of the best restuarants anywhere. We had several different fish both grilled and fried in some very strong tasty sauces but without any heat, a mudcrab cooked in a black pepper sauce that was the nicest pepper sauce l have ever eaten and the prawns wete done in a tomato type sauce and grilled. The place is possibly the cleanest of any l have been in and the decor is reserved but very modern. I just wish this place was in Melbourne tp take all my friends to. 6 stars out of 5.

Something in the dreams...
It's a first class restaurant and one of the best service that I had ever experience. The food is superb and it's something that I would recommend to everybody who visits this place.

A true taste of Indonesia
Last week we were invited to the Lalapan for lunch. New owners have taken over and refurbished the menu and building. The place is very elegant, clean and inviting. All the food is laid out bistro style and after selecting it is prepared and delivered to your table. Service was first class. You can choose to sit outside in rough hewn outdoor furniture or inside in airconditioned comfort. All of the food is traditional Indonesian had some mild spicyness to it but I found it very palatable whilst my Indo friends merely added extra chilli etc. This place needs to be amongst any vuisitors to Jakartas top 10 resto's, personally I found it to be the best one I have visited to date. An added bonus is that for now it is an all you can eat for just $2.50 per person. No idea how they do it but it is certainly not due to poor quality food or service.
