After 30 min walking from my hotel to jalan balamangan i was really shocked and dissapointed! For a while i thought i was in the wromg street or got lost with the map but unfortunatly discovered that i am in kuta night market!! 5 shops with very cheap disgusting food smell! The street was dark and scary as well. Dont bother urself going there go enjoy the beach walk zone at night, lights restaurants decoration and more.

I love the Kuta Night Markets
I feel that i'm a bit of an expert on the Kuta night Markets., I first ate their in 1980. Back in the day it was very much a shanty area. In the mid 80s it was rebuilt, a friend introduced me to Depot Strawberry in early 1990 and its owners Made and Kutut. In early 1990 the markets were torn down yet again to make way for the next door temple to be increased in size. I have been eating at Strawberry for some 24 years now and unless their closed for mandatory ceremonies it's the only one I eat at. Why they give me a menu a pad and a pencil i'm not sure since I eaten the same food on every occasion. I start with the crab corn soup, an extremely generous portion, one between 2 people is more than sufficient, in my opinion to die for. This is followed by whole fish, if we have taken friends with us its two or three depending on how many of us there are. One served with chilli sauce, my personal favourite, the other served with garlic butter, my wife's favourite. This is always ordered with white rice (nasi puhti) hijau sayur (green Vegitables a bit like spinach) plus a capcay (mixed vegetables). You might need to hassle on the price of the fish, expect to pay around eight Aussie dollars a head with a a large beer between 2 people.
