Was not impressed
Went today to check out the vinyl records for sale and eat some vegetarian food. I don’t normally do negative reviews but my experience was that the staff were bored and unenthusiastic this afternoon. I asked for tempe with potatoes but got tempe with rice, but I didn’t care by this time and just ate it. Food was ok, nothing to get excited about. Staff were cold to me but they laughed and joked around with each other. The vinyls were too pricey for me, ranging from RP300,000-450,000 (about AU$30-45). Nice place but I wouldn’t go again.

Probably the nicest restaurant in town!
Long story short: They went seriously out of their way, very close to closing time, to give us a local dish we craved, because we were leaving Indonesia the next day. And this was even though they don't normally serve it so late and we only needed one plate. It was really nice done and not something you would normally encounter on a restaurant. PS: It tasted absolutely delicious.

Lovely place for lunch, love the food!
Kedai Kebun is another one of the nice cafes/restaurants on Tirtodipuran street, glad we stumbled upon it. Went there with the family for a late lunch one day, the food was served fast and tasted great! Hubby and kids taste bud going towards vegetarian so we had fried rice, spicy tempe dish, accompanied by tempe mendoan (must have whilst you're in Yogya!). All very nice :-) Top floor is divided into two areas, indoor (cooler on a hot day) and outdoor (nice to sit too, choose the one under a leafy area). Both areas facing a spacious green garden, courtesy of the house next door :-)
