I am a true sushi devote and have lived in Japan for several years as well as being a native of New York City where we are not deprived of high quality food options. When I heard Ippachi (supposedly) imported fish from Japan regularly etc I was very excited to try it and expected to pay handsomely for it but at least approach sushi nirvana for the price. NO SUCH LUCK. Prices were quite exorbitant but quality level was on par with many far less expensive Jakarta sushi options. We focused on sashimi and sushi and there was 'no wow factor' at all. And no Japanese chef to be seen anywhere. Nice variety of menu options but when the quality is very average and the price way above average, who cares? I would not even entertain business guests here. Whatever it may have been at some point in the past it no longer is. Save your time and money for somewhere else.

This will be a place to remember,Above all for your bank account. They claim to be one of the best sushi restaurants in town. They are surely the most expensive with the worst price/quality ratio It is true: they have some shellfish which is not easy to find in Jakarta. BUT 55 US$ for a (big) Japanese oyster? 50 US$ for a clam? For two pieces of salmon sushi 8 US$.. They charge you 6 US$ for salted soya beans which in other Japanese restaurants you get free as an appetizer! Service, atmosphere and quality:OK. If you are ready to spend 80 to 100 $ for a meal: That's the place for you! For ordinary people like me: Never again!
