Friendly service, nice ambience and good local food at good prices
We chanced upon this place as we were walking around Ubud and looking for dinner. It looked decent although pretty touristy. It was a local public holiday and many restaurants were closed then. This restaurant had its menu displayed and the prices were reasonable. We had our orders taken quickly but food the food took some time to arrive. I guess they were understaffed due to the holiday and there were many customers. We took advantage of the happy hour cocktails that was one-for-one. We were pleasantly surprised to see them using biodegradable straws! When the food came, we gobbled them up quickly as we were hungry. Typical Balinese fare, nice serving size. We had the special and a serving of fern salad.

Reliable for all the family
Recommended by our hotel because we were going to be nearby, Batan Waru served our family a great lunch. With many local menu options, including all vegetables being sourced from their own farm, 4 of us ate well for around $A10 each. We inevitably over ordered but ate our way through most of it, the kids all happy with items from nasi goreng to spring rolls & iced tea. If you are in central Ubud & are looking for somewhere casual, clean & tasty, I’d recommend it.

A decent place we would visit again
Nice location and staff. The small bowl with red stuff in it is super spicy! I sat there sweating and used up all the napkins, clearly I took too much of the red stuff. Would very much recommend the fried rice with maybe something extra if you're really hungry and the pancakes with palm sugar in it! We went there twice and was satisfied both times. Maybe not order any alcoholic beverages, the red wine was a weird rosé and other people have complained about lukewarm beer, and odd cocktails. San Pellegrino is the way to go;)
