Disappointed in the dessert
We went to his restaurant as the menu looked ok and it was snot too far from our accomodation. It features pasta, pizza ( but not available the night we were there) some western dishes and Indonesian. It was having a. Special on ravioli. I went for spaghetti bolognese and my partner ravioli with bolognese sauce. Strangely, as my meal was the more expensive the sauce with the ravioli was more robust and better than mine. The ravioli was acceptable. The spaghetti was just ok. Not unpleasant but a bit like made from a good can of spaghetti sauce. Strangely the complimentary bruschetta, just ok, came well after we had eaten the mains. We then had a dessert, black rice with coconut milk. A huge serving for the price paid. Unfortunately very little coconut milk and it tasted to both of us as it had been reheated without care. There was a definite acrid burnt taste to the dish that can come from reheating it too quickly, not stirring well and tHis burning the bottom. Serve size are typically the small size you get in areas outside side of the Kuta / Denpasar / Legian / Canggu / Seminyak area. Prices are 10 - 20% above what is usual for Amed. Service was ok. Just a 3.

Expect to pay extra if you want a nice breakfast
Our stay at Amed Dream hotel included breakfast. Now I read beforehand it wouldn't be much but even my low expectation of it was too high. There were three types of breakfast menus available, see photo attached. As you will notice the first two (American and Continental breakfast) are almost identical: you just don't get eggs with the continental one. The last menu (Indonesian) is an either-or menu of the three choices presented meaning it's even less attractive value-wise. That Indonesian menu also doesn't include any fresh fruit, which I haven't seen in any hotel before in Bali, and if you want it you need to pay a 45k IDR surcharge. Which for two slices of pineapple, two slices of papaya and two slices of water melon (all very small) is beyond ridiculous in terms of local pricing (or European for that matter, it translates to > 3 euro's for a few small scrapes of fruit). Besides from everything in the "breakfast corner" section of the menu being available only as surcharge, most annoying of all is the included coffee in the menu's. This is just Balinese coffee only which I happen to not like. I could understand not offering a cappuccino with the default menu (although really? It's just a bit of foamed milk...) but fail to see why ordering an American breakfast would not include a long black from regular coffee at least. This is, by far, the worst breakfast I've had in my 2 week stay in Bali. The only thing I can say about it that's positive is that the food itself at least was OK, and that the noodles were a better choice than the American breakfast in hindsight.
