Nice intro to local food at great price
1. Tasting menu (around usd 51 per person). No ala carte available. 2. Consists of crackers, soup, 8 types of main course and 6 types of desserts 3. Main course - excellent variety. 1 vegetarian dishes (soy, sprouts and cucumber in peanut sauce), steamed barramundi coated with turmeric sauce wrapped in leaf, prawns with coconut, Shredded duck salad with beans and shallots, chicken with chilli and eggplant, chicken satay and chicken gizzard satay, grilled beef in a really spicy sauce. -There is one dish from Lombok, one from Sulawesi so you get a taste of food across the islands. - some of the dishes are meant to be served cold, and some warm. I suggest eat the leaf-wrapped steamed fish, the prawn cakes, the beef and the satay first. Then eat the rest. Since I was not aware of this order, the beef was cold by the time I got to it. 4. The dessert platter is to die for. Eat the black rice porridge and the fruit in coconut milk, and brown sponge cake thingy first because they are the least sweet. Follow this with the green glutinous rice balls which are like little bombs that explode with syrup. And then eat the banana that is coated and deep fried in batter and dipped in sweet syrup. 5. Request for the buggy to take you to the reception because it’s quite difficult to walk after this meal. I felt full like a happy whale. 6. Service is great. 5 staff showed up singing happy birthday to me. I was grateful and a bit embarrassed. 7. It’s an outdoor gazebo with large curtains but it’s kind of dark (v difficult to get good photos of the food 🙊) and I got bitten by mosquitoes. My husband said he was ok, must be because I was in a dress and my legs looked inviting 🏃🏼♀️) Assessment - thought it’s a great intro to local cuisine at a very reasonable price point. Suggestions - please do something about the mosquitoes.

Magical Indonesian Dinner
One of the most magical dinners we have ever had in the world (and we travel a lot!). We went to Dulang, an authentic Indonesian restaurant within our hotel property. It’s this gorgeous, open air place with a romantic ambiance with 2 musicians playing a xylophone-like instrument that sets the tone. Everything is meant to be shared. We had a few starters, 8 mains and 5 sweet desserts + 4 glasses of wine (by the glass). The service was impeccable and every person who interacted with us knew our names. For the amount of food and variety, it was extremely affordable for that level of service. It will be one of our most memorable meals for the incredible atmosphere, amazing food and phenomenal service.
