First Bak Kut Teh experience
It is a chinese restaurant located at Centre Point mall in Medan. Tried Bak Kut Teh for the first at this restaurant and it tasted really good. It gives a refreshing flavour despite its main ingredient, which is pork. The restaurant is rather small so when it comes to lunch or dinner time, it gets quite crowded and it also results in smaller tables and seats. It is quite cramped for taller and bigger figures like me (185cm).

Best bak kut teh
Bak kut teh literally translates from hokkien(dialect) as "meat bone tea", and at its simplest, consists of short pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices (including star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui, fennel seeds and garlic) for hours. Despite its name, there is in fact no tea in the dish itself; the name refers to a strong oolong Chinese tea which is usually served alongside the soup in the belief that it dilutes or dissolves the copious amount of fat consumed in this pork-laden dish. The decor of the place always very interesting... light bulbs in birdcage... make it look like eating in traditional Chinese marketplace.
