Overpriced for noodle soup Bakmi Godog
Simplicity was the reason we had lunch here. It was lunchtime and if we went to Foodstreat (food court in Sahid complex) we might not get any empty tables, so we turned to Bengawan Solo Restaurant, a place we know for sure there must be some empty tables if we suddenly showed up there. It was true, we easily found the nice table by the glass window. I imagined a hot and spicy Bakmi Godog Jawa (Java noodle soup)... But it came with a warm (not hot) noodle soup bowl, and... It was not hot or spicy at all! My dissapointment continued as it was not as tasty as I imagined. So that was the time when I ate very slowly one of my favourite food, and I almost could not eat it up. But as I remember the price for that noodle soup was quite expensive (IDR 75,000) compared to my hometown noodle soup (less than IDR 20,000), slowly I could finish eating it. Anyway we still enjoyed our lunch and had a great chit chat together, regardless the price or the taste of the food.

Pricey food for average taste
Decent taste but nothing stays with you to deserve the bill. There is many places in Jakarta which would serve this quality for far less money. We tried an array of offerings from Fish to Gado Gado to Crispies. They also have a super loud live band which highly disturbs the experience.

One of the best Nasi Liwet in town
For business purposes, my colleagues and I occassionally organize our meetings at Sahid Hotel, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman, Jakarta, to be followed by lunches or dinners. Location-wise it is very central in Jakarta and its rather known Bengawan Solo restaurant is among those places we go to for lunches or dinners. Bengawan Solo practically serves Indonesian specialities, in particular those from Java traditions. Every time I go and eat there, I usually order its Nasi Liwet complete menu. It consists of flavored rice, spicy vegies curry, sweet chicken curry, tofu and marinated soya beans (tempe), chicken liver, and crackers. The taste is one among the best in town. The serving staffers are traditionally dressed and all well-trained, an asset to the management. The restaurant is huge that probably can accomodate around 50 to 60 food lovers. Smoking is permitted at the lobby side, outside of the air-conditioned main hall of the restaurant. The ambience is peaceful as it is located at the opposite side of the main road, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman, which is always clogged around the clock. Minor drawback is, its rest rooms are a few meters away. Customers need to walk a few minutes to get there. Overall rating is 4/5, worth-visiting hence.
