To say "average" is being far too generous...
When holidaying in coastal Bali, especially around Denpasar, one HAS to eat alfresco on the beach, watching the sun set. For our first night's meal, da WanderingWabbits sat down to enjoy this experience at NEW BENDESA, Jimbaran Beach. We LUV seafood so, having watched the fishermen land their catches that morning, we ordered the set meal of fish, clams, calamari, prawns and rice. Unfortunately, the sunset was the best part of our evening - to say the food was "average" is being VERY kind. The fish (supposedly the 'hero' of the table) was overcooked and dry, and could not be salvaged by use of the dipping sauces - likewise the butterflied prawns, while the calamari was stock-standard and chewy. Smoke from nearby beach rubbish fires drifted across the tables all evening, and staff were less than friendly. We definitely do NOT recommend NEW BENDESA, Jimbaran.

While the sunset is fabulous and you can sink your feet into the sand while eating dinner, the fish wasn’t fresh like you’re made to think (we were told it had been frozen) and the squid and fish were chewy so over cooked. The prawns were nice. I had been 20 years ago to one of these beach fish places and the fish was tender and flaky and we had a luchious generous dipping sauce. Expecting that again but getting what we got was very disappointing. Staff were grumpy too. And to add to it, the next door table had a drone in our faces making a horrendous noise with no care for ruining the only thing that made this place....the ambience!

Great locale and could be terrific but miss the mark totally with over cooked tough food and borderline rude service.
