Magnificent location - and the food matches it
On a day trip to central Bali we were informed that our lunch would be at a forest location near the Jatiluwih Rice Fields. There was a slow drive up a bumpy track rising several hundred feet before reaching a clearing where we parked and then walked up the stepped path to the restaurant. Once there we appreciated the beauty and serenity of the location looking out onto the bamboo trees. As to the food, it was equally good. The restaurant specialises in salads. There were several varieties, which were all delicious. The hot dishes were equally impressive, as were the desserts of black rice pudding and apple tart. The staff were friendly and helpful and happily explained about each dish on offer. It is probably not a feasible destination for lone travellers, but anyone taking a guided tour in the area should ask to be taken there for lunch. Highly recommended.

Very enjoyable visit and meal; very nice wait staff and cooks
As part of our tour, we made a prearranged stop for a private lunch. Overall, our small group of 7 had a great meal. The ambiance was awesome; food selections were plentiful and tasty. Being able to enjoy the local organic delicacies served by gracious local hosts, was a real treat. The Bamboo forest is amazing. Our stay was only about an hour and a half, and we could have enjoyed that patio all day.

Unique restaurant experience
I didn't read the other reviews before making the trip to Bamboo Forest and didn't realize how remote it was. The photos looked fantastic and on the map, it looks quite close to Jatiluwih so I thought it would be an ideal lunch spot. It's accessed by a road in bad shape and I was confused for much of the drive. When you arrive, at the parking lot, you walk up a long stone stepped path past an abandoned dilapidated building and I was worried that the restaurant had closed down. Once we found the restaurant and saw the beautiful setting, spread, and heard the flute playing in the forest, the bizarre trip to the restaurant just added to the charm. In my opinion, the posted photos don't do the restaurant justice. There is an atmospheric quality of Bamboo Forest that is hard to capture in a photo. The food was delicious, the staff did an amazing job at adapting all the dishes to be gluten free so I could eat them, and they were lovely to chat with. The Batukaru temple and Jatiluwih rice terraces were gorgeous but Bamboo Forest ended up being the highlight of the day.
