Like a Balinese mum would cook....

We tried this place having seen the recommendations on Trip Advisor & very glad that we did. Not your normal restaurant per se, as the dining tables/kitchen are in a communal living area, including small temple. The owner came & sat with us for awhile & told us about how his concept came about & that he wanted people to experience truly home cooked meals/keep traditions alive. There's quite a basic menu, though we thoroughly enjoyed our meal (esp. the ribs) & the bill was ridiculously well priced, including 3 large beers. Certainly they could increase prices by 25% & patrons wouldn't bat an eyelid. Thoroughly recommend trying this place out & even better with a small group of friends/family, so that more of the delicious menu can be sampled.

Best traditional Balinese food

Yesterday we rode out to Ubud for the day. After scanning TripAdvisor for a nice authentic place to eat we settled on having lunch at Balinese Home Cooking and it was a great decision. Though a short ride out of town it is well worth the trip. The people there were extremely friendly and welcoming as we were seated in a cosy garden setting. We ordered a Nasi Campur and Ayam Goreng. These dishes were amazing 10/10 for balance of flavour and authenticity. Though we were close to full we couldn’t resist ordering something else so went with the spring rolls and chicken satay. Spring rolls were good but the satay was another 10/10. We will definitely be returning to Balinese Home Cooking next time we are in Ubud. Do yourself a favour and visit there also.

A Small Family Restaurant in a Balines Home

What a nice idea for a family to open a restaurant in their home garden. A few long tables, very nice staff and excellent home cooking. We had spring rolls and Soto Ayem. Just about as local Balinese food as you can get. The restaurant does not serve wine but we were told we could bring our own, which we did. So very different from a hotel restaurant or a tourist restaurant along a main Street. Quiet, away from the hustle and excellent local food.
