Relax and watch the waves
This little Warung is quaint and reminiscent of old Bali. Home cooking combined with cold beer overlooking Balian Beach it is a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

Came here a few times since it was close to our villa. Food was so-so. Good spot to have a beer and watch the wildlife and sunset. As is the norm, dogs and cats wander the restaurant and kitchen. Birds and bats fly out at dusk for added entertainment. We saw a cat catch a bird!

Amazing location away from the crowds
Ok.. so I've stayed in places with better facilities for the price I'm paying (there is no hot water, wifi, soap etc)... but the location is stunning! The rooms are right on the beach so you can be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. I'm not a surfer (though it is quite fun to watch the surfers), instead I came here at the end of a month long trip to Bali to get away from the crowds. And boy can you get away from the crowds here! There is a nice walk (well more of a scramble, with some wading) you can do southwards along the almost deserted beach over rocks and through hidden little cliff edged bays to a fishing village. Only about 90 minutes there and back.... but you feel like Robinson Crusoe! The other way up the beach (north) there are some good restaurants - after you have waded through the shin deep river, one in a gorgeous little cove called Secret Bay, that does good Thai food (if like me you crave something that isn't peanut or coconut flavoured). As others have said this is a community run project meant to preserve the shoreline (which the village has planted and landscaped beautifully) which was one of reasons I booked. So please do support this project by coming to stay here. It would be a shame if this little stretch of paradise was bought up and developed into another mass tourism hell-hole!
