Not as great as the info
Came to Surabaya for business trip and meeting friends, we were planning to have dinner on Friday but it was fully booked and thought wow this must be a great place! I was curious of this “Spanish” restaurant so I tried to book on Sunday before leaving surabaya. So here are some informations for readers: I was being asked which floor I would like to have dinner? I asked what is the different and asked for recommendations, she couldn’t explain the difference and everything she just recommended 1st floor because usually people chiiled there and have bar. I said Okay! I arrived and wowed this place as the decoration looks so nice. My friends were there and tell its strange there’s no Paella and Sangria in this place, really? I said So we asked and the waiter said the paella is for 2nd floor menu (which is fine dining and I didn’t know about it - I should’ve got that info when I call for reservation) Anyway we ordered and the food not as expected, the meats are dry, different serve of sangria, the seafood platters didn’t look well (it looked like fish and chips) all fried and didn’t explain in the menu. And... the churros OMG it didn’t cook well, I told the waiter and he said he will bring it to the chef (I didn’t eat them at all) so he took the churros and that’s it nothing happened till we leave. I am spanish food lover and know how the food tasted, I am curious because maybe it was my bad not read their link to get the details so check and as you will see not much info in the link. Suggestions: explain more detail specially about 1st & 2nd floor menu (FYI : we can’t order food like paella because we were sitting on the 1st floor - which according to me paella is not a food for fine dining, it could be eaten in any places) So hope this might help and if I heard Altoro made improvements specially for the food I might come again. Theses are some food we had, I didn’t take the churros pics after I play with them to check if its cooked or not. It looks fine tho but...

amazing food, with real Spanish food and great variety. Spacious restaurant ideal for families, to go out with friends or for business events. modern building, service is fast, waiters a fairly reactive. there are smoking areas that do not make you feel socially marginalized. highly recommended if you want a break from Indonesian food.

Excellent staff & Marvellous interior
Some reviewers complained about the service attitude, but for our case we felt the staff are excellent. Very welcoming, very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The interior: wow...love the vintage industrial look and amazed by the glass dome. Its a pretty serious decorating work. Kudos for the owner and designer! Menu is somehow limited if you are looking for authentic Spanish menu, especially for the first floor menu. I also didn't get the concept of different menu on different level. Can you just have different lunch and dinner menu? And what up with the fusion dish? I also once came during Friday night around 7pm to catch up with an old friend. but the music was very loud. Impossible to have conversation in that level of loudness. I recommend to have the music started later maybe after 9 or 10, so families and group of friends could come and enjoy each other in nice and relaxing conversation.
