Transported to France for the night - Très Bon!
A charming French family run restaurant - Alsace a Table didn't disappoint. We had the foie gras... always our favorite. It was served fresh and pan seared with the perfect accompaniments. The Flammekueche (thin pizza like dish with cream and onions) is a can't miss. We had the rossboeuf, which was marinated for four days before being cooked. The sauce was out of the world. Accompanied with spaetzle (a German pasta that is a new discovery for me, but now a constant treat) and a nice dry French Rosé, the meal was a complete hit. However, it is the wonderful hosting of Kevin and his mom, the chef, that really made the evening special. These are wonderful people that made it seem more like they are having you over to their home for dinner than serving you as patrons in their restaurant. The price was very reasonable compared to the quality of the food and experience, but if you are traveling on a Balinese-bargain budget, you may want to look elsewhere.

A memorable night – great food, great portions, great service, and surprisingly good value.
We had looked for this place in the past, and discovered that it was closed down. So we were surprised when one of our friends suggested we eat here. It has reopened. We turned up a few minutes early, and selected a decent bottle of red with the help of our host/ owner. The place is strange, being quite dark and "woody", but we felt comfortable and relaxed, even though our table of 8 was the only table occupied. Partly because we were made to feel so much at home by the host. The menu is a true selection of Alsace/ French treats. With their version of pizza (sorry, I forget the Alsace name), classic heart attack starters (foi gras and escargot featured heavily in our selections) and cholesterol loaded mains. We ordered a selection of starters and then all went for our individual mains. We had the most tender, most succulent tenderloin that I can remember eating. Other meals gained rave reviews by all concerned, and we all struggled to finish the huge portions. The girls all left at least half their mains – and took it home in doggy bags. We finished off with a couple of desserts between us, as we couldn’t manage one each, followed by a few schnapps and some of us had espressos. We were also served a homemade Cassis-like liquor for free. Don’t know how many bottles of wine we went through, but it was rather a lot and, for a couple of hours, being hosted by a gracious family (monsieur did the wines, madame was the chef, and son was the maître d’ / waiter), we were fed to busting and taken care of like royalty. Final score - 1 million per head, but that was a full on meal, excellent quality, great service, and loads of booze. Well worth the money. This meal was one of the best surprises of the past year. As one of the group put it, it wasn’t just a great meal, “it was a truly memorable evening.” We will definitely return.
