Cool Chillout Spot and for Arak
A very nicely done bar that has wonderful service staff with a variety of Arak based cocktails to offer customers. Arrived too late after dinner to try to make my own cocktail as an option. Would drop in again when in Seminyak.

Amazing people, highly recommended!
Same owner as potato head and located next to the famous beach club. Akademi is still new but we were so happy to find this little gem! The guys that work here are so friendly, explaining a lot about the cocktails and ingredients, my boyfriend even got to make his own cocktail. They know what they’re doing. We had such a nice evening and end up spending it with the guys that work there since it was quiet. They told us all about their beautiful island and culture. It was a night to remember and we will definitely come back here. Highly recommended! *and very special thanks to Frank, Erik and Yudha. You guys rock! We hope to see you next year and if you ever visit Holland, please come by and visit us!*

Pick and make your poison...
When i had to airdrop into Bali for only 3 days, i wasted no time in shortlisting Akademi into my very curated list of must-go amongst other new places that have popped up since i was last here 3 years ago. Way overdue for a returning visit!! i love the experimental side of my cocktail bars, so reading that Akademi IS the 'centre of mixology' or like its name suggests (an academy), i was hoping deep in my heart that they will be able to pull it off. And i have to say; they did, with flying colours. Walking into a wall filled with jars of homemade infusions and ingredients sitting in well-designed compartments is very intriguing. i want to read every label and find out what this place is doing. The bartenders did not hesitate to give us a very warm welcome the minute we walked in. They not only introduced themselves but also the whole concept of Akademi, their take on Arak, and brought us through their very tantalising menu. i was ready to order by the end of it. Special of the month - based on available local produce, something that excites me in the menu, and my favourite at any bar - a bespoke. Special of the month - Case Study #15 as they called it, is the Salak. An unfamiliar fruit to me, but the team did a good job expressing it as a drink. Love how they pickled it and used it as a garnish. Something interesting in the menu - The Jumping Julep. i ordered this because it has my favourite jackfruit and gin (infused with lemongrass) in it. The bespoke - i picked the rambutan arak and our bartender Willie did a good job paring it with some other unexpected ingredients like honey...pineapple...vanilla...(to the best that i can remember), and made it work. i had the honour of making this myself under Willie's guidance and was proud to have some fun being mixologist for that split second. hahaha. All part of Akademi's philosophy to allow their guests to do their experiments themselves if they like to. To be sitting on the same side of the bar was something i never experience before. This spatial design is very appealing to me. Although the sister of Potato Head, i was glad that Akademi didn't catch on the crazy crowd (well not yet and hopefully not). i enjoyed it for it being a nice hotel lounge i can easily and comfortably grab a nightcap. i was back at Akademi again the next day, the last few hours before my flight just to catch the launch of their new Case Study - #16 the Pandan. It was indeed a very beautiful and smooth drink. Love how the taste of Pandan was being elevated by something vanilla and something almond in there. i did not check out as many bars as i would love to this trip but Akademi was indeed a fruitful (literally) one. Thank you for having us.
