Introduction

Hutchison 3 Indonesia—or more commonly known as Tri—is no stranger to those in the know within the internet community of Indonesia. Tri has made its way becoming one of the top providers in the country and is now looking to spread its reach abroad.

Tri’s internet network has been proven superior in Indonesia and it can now be enjoyed in other countries, too, through cooperation with other local providers. Tri now has roaming packages to allow its customers access to excellent internet connection far from their homeland.

Tri Roaming Package coverage

Considering that your internet needs are not just confined to your own country, Tri has begun expanding its networks to other countries. Tri even provides Ibadah services, which allows for roaming in Saudi Arabia, connecting you via phone calls, SMS, Blackberry, and overseas internet, ensuring you can stay in touch during your Umrah worship.

With the tagline "Feel at Home," Tri doesn't play around in providing the best service. The strength of the network in the country is also expanded to more than 44 countries from 3 continents—namely Asia, Europe, and Australia—which will undoubtedly make customers feel at home. Here is a list of countries with Tri roaming network coverage:

Currently, Tri has 2 types of roaming packages—Overseas internet packages and Overseas Australian & European Internet Packages. For the ordinary, non-European or Australian package, there are four internet packages which are based on the length of activation—1, 3, and 7 days, with an additional 1-day booster package.

The roaming booster package is a next-level package, which enables you to receive stronger signal when in a lower coverage area. This can also be extended by dialing the *889# menu and following the instructions.

Meanwhile, the Australian and European Special Overseas internet package has two types—for 5 or 10 days. It should be noted that in all occasions, the days referred to are based on the West Indonesia Time Zone (WIB). So, your package will reset automatically at 00:00 WIB.

Traveloka now allows for the convenient purchase of Tri roaming packages. You just need your Traveloka App and go to the International Data Plans menu. Select your destination country and the most convenient length of time for you, but be sure to consider the relevant time differences between the country and WIB. Finally, complete the payment process and wait for your activation codes—sent by SMS and email.

You’re also able to set the exact date that the roaming package will activate. So, your package will be fully following your time abroad. It is recommended that you make your purchase before departure. This allows time for any issues with the transaction to be ironed out.

  • Activating your Tri Roaming package

Your Tri roaming package will become fully active, once you have enabled the corresponding settings on your phone. On Android, go to your settings menu and select Cellular Networks, then look up roaming settings and activate it. iOS is slightly different; once you have entered Settings, go to Cellular Data Options and then activate the roaming settings.

Should there be any issue, then you can try setting the device up manually. Simply set your devices APN as follows:

    - APN: 3gprs

    - Username: [blank]

    - Password: [blank]

While you do have internet connection at hand, you should always remain vigilant to your consumption of data while on a roaming package. There are many ways to limit your data usage while abroad. These include an actual limitation, set by you, through your phone settings. Another one is only to have the roaming activated in areas where you are entirely out of reach of WiFi signal. You should also try to limit your use of games and any other data-heavy application to help conserve your data.
