I love Jso hostel. It's a little cozy place. The owner was very friendly. Thank you so much for your help and suggestion. I'm very impressed with a bicycle rental (free) then I rode it around Chiang mai downtown and I visited many temples. If I want to go backpacking in Chaing mai next time, I will certainly think of here firstly.

Beats roughing it under the bridge, but only just. Misled by the pictures and description, we thought it was on the riverside. Instead, it is located on the main Chiang Mai - Lampang road, with heavy traffic all night, shaking the room. Not for light sleepers. The bed is six large pillows more or less held together by a bed sheet, and if you toss and turn too much, you may end up on the floor. Bathroom: upside down plastic box on the wall, labelled shower gel, but it was empty. Lather up with shampoo, or towel off and trek to the nearest convenience store. Reception desk says it's open till late, but if you want to check in too late, you'll find the doors locked for the night. The experience was a total let-down, not helped at all by a rather unwelcoming and unprofessional member of staff, either.
To sum up: avoid it if you can. There are so many better alternatives, you have no reason to stay at Jao.

Staying at Jao Hostel's private room for three nights, I found that the place is more suitable for the backpacker who prefer drinking/socializing as they have the cafe/bar downstairs with lots of different beers and food, though the breakfast is not included with the room booked and I haven't gotten the chance to try. During my nights there, there wasn't any other visitor, so at night it was kind of quiet with some noise from the road in front of the hostel and gecko outside the window. In my opinion, their private room and its decoration is worth the price, however, its cleanliness should be improved with more regular cleaning. There were dust on the headboard, two cockroaches, and some mosquitoes in the room which made me feel less comfortable staying there.

Very good value, friendly owner Look after each other very warmly. Set as Until the day comes back There are recommended tourist attractions to be very cute. Friendly conversation Very impressed. Hostel & Cafe is small but very cute. The room is clean, the coffee is delicious, the owner is very friendly, very good care, has a nice photo corner.
